Jeez!
diane abbott has often given me moments of amusement throughout the years.. whenever i'm feeling depressed, 30 mins of watching her varied gaffes on youtube usually cheers me up.. the following is a clip from this week (feb 2008) in which she seems to wonder out loud whether mao did more good than harm.
it's great to hear michael portillo's initial reaction ("whaaat!
") and then watch him and andrew neil belly-laugh at diane abbott's comments at the end of the clip.. perhaps she'd been at the blue nun xd.

Sorry useruser1914, but I don't understand what you are asking for. Is there any way you could rephrase please?

I think Diane Abbott is a walking joke for the Labour party. She should stay where she is best. A backbench MP for an inner city borough of London with no further responsibility.
I personally didn't like Neil Kinnock/Tony Blair/Peter Mandelson kind of Labour very much and I certainly don't like Michael Foot/Jeremy Corbyn/Diane Abbott kind of Labour either.
It may not be popular but I liked John Smith/Robin Cook/Gordon Brown type labour. But they seemed to be in the middle in the swing from "loony left" to "Tory lite" and in the middle when it swung back again.
my mom has gone into assisted living and i've discovered a treasure trove of old wt publications, 2 interlinear bibles for example.
is anyone interested in these?
i live in seattle..
Just a note:
I have a jw Interlinear (book form) but it is also on jwborg WT library and as yet I have not noticed a difference between the online version (which I read on a tablet a lot at meetings when I attend) and the book form. (No end sheets or charts of course in the on line one)
picture 185,000 people on the streets attending the biggest event in long beach.
there is a main downtown street which is the only way into the grand prix.
it’s chaos because it is not private property that can be contained; these are working boulevards with cars and people vying to get where they want to go.
Drearyweather - no - the KH crashes and especially picketing at conventions get posted on the net nowadays where at least hundreds and often thousands get to see them. When we do "join the dots" they are one of "the dots" that helps us make up the true picture.
The carts also serve a purpose - they help people realise what a (insert expletive as an intensifier) waste of time being a JW is compared with those that actually HELP other people.

Was there an angel hovering overhead looking for Assyrians?
a thread began some 10 years ago when our friend atlantis made a pdf available of jws modern history book.
yes, that book is available on my 2015 library cd but only certain chapters.
naturally, wt eliminated certain entire chapters and you can only guess why.

You mean "Thick witnesses don't like to read books"

Forgetting politics ... I like Portillo. He is urbane and pleasant and very intelligent. He also has a sense of humour. Watch this clip to see his attitude in defeat to 24 year old Stephen Twigge in 1997 when Labour swept to victory under Tony Blair.
The whole clip shows the quirks and essence of stiff upper lip British politics.
But if you can't take 7 minutes watch from about 5:00 - Portillo steps up at 5:30.
Anyway Portillo was back as an MP at a by-election in 1999 until he left politics in 2005 for a career as a TV presenter/pundit.
what do you think would happen if i verbally refuse to report my time?
it's been several months since i turned in my time and i think the elder got tired of asking me lol.
frankly, i think it's stupid that jws are required to do this.
If you have not turned in your time for several months then you're so close to home you can hear your old dog snoring on the front porch.
As the Fall Guy says - if it ain't broke then don't fix it.
If and only if you are asked again then just say politely and firmly say "I have no report."
This may shut up the person asking or they may ask for details of why not etc. Just say "Well I appreciate your concern but like I said - I have no report."
If they ask if you are going to report again just say "I haven't thought that far ahead but for the time being I have no report."
If they ask a fourth time I believe you are perfectly entitled to say "I don't believe you are respecting my boundaries and I will not continue to discuss this point with you."
End with "Thanks, bye! Gotta go now." And walk away or put the phone down.
just joking i really don't think so...but the situation in syria is pretty worrisome...just hearing the news that france and great britain are attacking with cruise missiles in 72 hours.
i mean assad is not gonna gasify his adversaries when he almost won the civil war.
trump too suspended a very important trip to the latinoamerican presidents summit in peru, just to 'oversee the american response to syria.
US Navy is unbeatable - it has about twenty times what any other Navy has in carriers alone. If one of them were sunk by a Russian submarine that got through the defences - unlikely - look what they'd have in reserve.
I mean - 10 - yes that's 10 Nimitz class carriers at over 100,000 tons each and another 9 of other types of carrier.
All the following carriers do not exceed 70,000 tons ...
What has Russia got?
1 carrier that has gone back for a refit after a history of breakdowns and arrestor-wire problems.
China
1 - maybe ready soon.
France
1 Carrier
UK
1 built - waiting for planes - and 1 on the way.
The rest of the world?
All relatively small old Cold war era built stuff or even WW2 hand me downs!
