  For Those of You Who Still Serve... How Do You Do It?

  new here... been lurking for some time now.... i still serve... but with each passing day, it gets harder and harder.

  i'm slowly... slowly working on my wife (i call her mrs. hardcore) and even my m-i-l (who taught my wife how to be hardcore).

  making some amazing progress... they are still hardcore... but unrecognizable from a couple years ago!.

  Choose the more generic outlines based on Christian fruits - Mercy, Love etc. Or jw doctrine you believe in perhaps - Hellfire/Trinity.

  Shepherding calls - just go along the lines of "Do your best - well done."

  so, it's been a really long time since i've posted on here.

  and even at the time i never really posted much.. to make my story short, my parents found out i was planning to move in with a worldly friend out of the blue and instead sent me to live with my jw grandmother.

  this was almost 3 years ago.

  Elder's Meeting about ARC? No. Really?

  as you may or may not know (or care), i live in the uk.

  a jw spy of mine told me that an elder had metioned that attendance at the kingdom hells had seemed to have dropped off after the australian royal comission expose of paedophilia within the watchtower organisation.. the elders were said to have had this as an item or the subject of a local elder's meeting.. i was surprised they'd even heard of the arc over here but at the same time was delighted.

  delighted that meeting attendance had dropped possibly....and i say possibly...as a result of the arc.. even an older dyed in the wool jw i know is getting sick of the gb worship within the organisation and had heard of the arc.. has anyone heard similar?.

  Here in my part of the UK I know of two "heavy weight" elders (as in used on local assembly items and run an RBC department) who have expressed concern to a mutual contact about the ARC. One said he'd watched it "for hours" - It doesn't appear to have shaken them up but the fact that they have seen it and commented on it shows the wheels are turning in their heads.

  I think more eyebrows are raised about the money grabbing in my corner of the field - one or two folk are quite vocal about it. One brother (ex MS who was beginning to "reach out") said he wasn't going to read the WT or offer prayers at the congregation meetings anymore and will wait on Jehovah to sort things out - good luck with that - before he reaches out again.

  i know this is a bit off the topic of religion, but i just got back from seeing ant man with my son.

  i'm getting tired of the fact that hollywood (and in this case the action/hero genre) rarely seems to have an original thought.

  has anybody noticed the same theme?.

  frankly saying, i've tried to be a complete ex-ex-jw so that ex-jw things would not drive my life mad.

  due to my linguistic barrier of writing in a foreign language, 12 years ago, i could not but read and read and read this site.

  The elderly sisters are at it again.

  awhile back, about a year and a half ago, when i was starting to wake up, i explained to my mom that when the circuit overseer is in town, they schedule shepherding calls after lunch, not because they care, but because they dont want to work door to door in the hot summer or cold winter.

  and they know that a prepared call means some nice hot chocolate and cookies or some ice cold tea and snacks.

  i remember her looking at me kind of funny so i ended the conversation and left it at that, and never brought it up again.

  These letters to elders chasing up reports and money sound like a group of men panicking about a huge run on their slaves and money from child abuse lawsuits. I mean faithful and wise servants ensuring the flock remain active and thus answering Satan's taunts and making best use of the master's resources.
