You cannot (officially) be df'd for associating with DF'd - especially when it was an urgent and extremely private financial/business matter which it was of course!

But ... there is the "catch all" brazen conduct and causing divisions which can be wheeled out by zealot elders to back up their action by stating you are disturbing the peace of the congregation. You will also get stick for publicly meeting and eating with said df'd person.

If you want to tell'em to do one and take the consequences of shunning and initial loneliness (it can hit you like a ton of wet sand especially if you haven't really prepared for it) then fine but if you want to play the long game then DO NOT MEET WITH THEM and tell any enquirer you are not prepared to discuss "a private financial/business" meeting under any circumstances. You might also be a little contrite and say yes maybe I shouldn't have met in public but It needed to be done.

Any twinges of guilt can be suppressed by remembering you are playing the theocratic warfare game back at them.

Letter to be read at meeting this week about the downsize

a family member who is a bethelite informed me today that there is a letter to be read soon ( this week or next) concerning the downsizing.

so probably someone who has their midweek meeting early in the week will be able to fill in the details.

In your first post where you have typed the content you have missed out the important paragraph at the top of page 2.

It is there in your later post in the PDF on PAGE 2 which does contains the important bit about reducing the bethel families and how "heartwarming" their response has been!

This has been read out at our meeting this past week.

One day assemblies

this may have been discussed before.

the costs for using the assembly hall for a one day last saturday was $12,000 with another assembly for the other half of the circuit on sunday, which will ring up another $12,000.

if the assembly was for two days the friends might roll their eyes if it were announced the costs for the two days was $24,000.

It's a friggin' joke isn't it?

Twenty years ago - let's build an assembly hall so we can have a dedicated place of worship and not have to use worldly facilities and it will be cheaper too!

Donate/free labour/more donations/more free labour/more, more, more ... TaDaa! A lovely new assembly hall.

Early years it's run by a local assembly hall committee with a caretaker and local teams chipping in, we all get a low per capita of £3.50 which builds a nice pot locally of half a million quid. Everyone is happy with "our" assembly hall.

About ten years ago the per capita goes up a bit - fair enough and the replacement hall/refurbishment pot is up to £750,000.

Then the scam artists at the branch get their greedy paws involved - per capita is £6.50 then £10.50 (one day less but more sucked into use it). And then the Assembly hall committee is disbanded and most of the rebuild/refurb pot (now approaching 900K) gets "requested" by the branch.

No sooner do they have the dosh then they start laying off bethelites and special pioneers.

Did any of that assembly hall pot go to reducing circuit assembly costs? Will it go to older bethelite being booted to the curb? Not a chance.

Annanias and Sapphira have nothing on this bunch!

I think we are witnessing more of the WT leadership's "frustration" stage ... where things start to go wrong and they are prompting a more determined effort to keep the fantasy alive. I do hope it morphs into the "nightmare" stage or better yet the "pack our bags and go away stage" but that may be just my wishful thinking!

London Bethelites Living on Their Nerves?

just got home and received information from a source regarding london bethel: .

a bethel couple told my source that they are getting rid of about 20/25 bethelites every week and that if they are to go, they will get called in on a friday and given their leaving date.everyone is "on edge" and hoping that if they get the boot, they've got time to make alternative plans.. perhaps bethelites everywhere should apply this scripture, by looking for a job and accommodation now - and then just resign from their "vow of poverty" without giving advance warning.

London Bethel - Didn't someone post they were going to lose 25% between now and next August. If as the OP's source says they are calling in and booting 25 a week between now and Christmas I make that 200 who will be leaving in the early months of 2016. WIth more to follow?

Watchout for bethelites landing in your circuit in the UK. Maybe they can fill the dire need for elders and servants outside London by using them to plug gaps at the same time?
