My jaw dropping OMG moment at the end of the convention

yes folks.

over the past few days i can honestly say the convention was relatively quite good.

most of the talks, videos, symposiums were in line with scripture if you have faith in the bible.

1975 - JWs in other countries, not just the U.S. also knew about the prediction

i have been wondering, if the 1975 prediction was just a rumour started by the rank & file as the wt claims, then how did jws in other countries, a part from the u.s., also come to know about the prediction?.

i started studying with the jws during the 80s when i was a child.

while attending one of my first meetings during that time, a brother commented during the wt study that armageddon did not come in 1975 because it was not known how many years after adam, eve was created.. at the time, i hadn't a clue what the guy was talking about.

It didn't bite them in the ass, except for a small dip in numbers in about 78' and 79', by which time Knorr was dead and GB 1.0 and Franz let '75 morph into the "generation" that would not pass away. They continued spouting nonsense in the 1980's until Freddie croaked in 1992.

Then in 1995 the boys in Brooklyn dropped the "real" generation, the century turned and finally by 2010, with the death of Jaracz, GB 1.0 had gone.

The last death twitchings of "generation one" had gone from being possible in the minds of all who hung on to it by 2014.

Now it is GB 2.0 getting bitten in the ass.

JWs Reaction to BBC Report

for months i have been telling my friends - very devout jws - about the problem of child abuse in the organization but it wasn't until they saw the bbc report that they finally believed it.

(i made mention of their reaction in an earlier post.).

today they have emailed me to say the bbc report has hit them really hard.

I had a brother in my hall say to me this week after seeing the BBC News at Ten item about the adult victims being quizzed by the judicial committees in New Moston, Manchester - "How can I go on the work? It's embarrassing."

it was the part of today's symposium - build a house that will endure.

the part i was most impressed with was 'safeguard your children from "what is evil".

it's around 10am here in the northeast of brazil.

i have just finished having coffee and a light breakfast.

i am reflecting on my saturdays of jw past, where i would be just about ready to leave the morning field service group and go door-knocking.. honestly, i hated every second of field service, always keeping one eye on the clock, counting down the minutes until service would be over.. 12 years later since i last "preached", i am also reflecting on the sense of freedom i experienced (and still experience) when i definitively said "no more!

1975 and the burning question/s??

ok. so i'm sitting there at the convention.

the video comes up about 1975 and the fact that the faithful brother in the video maintained his faith in the bible by adhering to the scripture that says:.

'no one knows the day or the hour as to when the lord is coming'.
