I recall the elder book saying that you could consider the testimony of unbelievers, not sure about specifically DF'd or DA'd.
It wasn't specifically forbidden to take their testimony.
this may be a plot point in a novel i'm working on.
will a judicial committee take testimony from a df'd or da person?
i could see them wanting to get dirt from any possible source, on the other hand i can picture somebody saying "he's df'd everything he says will be a lie.

go to minute nine for the third clip.
what is up with that hair???
She's allowed because she is black. I grew up with a black jw friend in the 70's and while the elders were on my case when my hair was over the tops of my ears or collar he got a free pass for having an afro as big as sideshow bob's.
i've recently watched the jw cartoons centered around teaching young kids the doctrines of this faith.
while i no longer practice any faith, i am well versed in this one.
i must say, these cartoons are in bad, bad taste.
Don't take it to heart FF ... I've been guilty of scan reading a long post and zeroing on my pet peeve too. We're all lovely on here really - just going through different stages of withdrawal from JW'ism either physically or mentally or both. Hope you stay and add your two cents to the mix from time to time!
Best wishes to you and yours ... (talking of work - I need to go to mine now)

"oh i'm not going to worry about it, armageddon will be here by then!".
-including me.
In a recent platform prayer from a 75 year old elder who has been a witness for 50 years and who pioneered forever despite having five kids AND every one of them is OUT (hooray) AND his WIFE is inactive but still lives with him AND he spends all his available time stood next to a BLOODY trolley STILL pioneering ...
"Blah blah ... Jehovah we are so grateful you have provided the Faithful and discreet slave to help us see where we are in the stream of time so close to this systems end ... Blah, blah."

FinalFlame - Changing the subject slightly - but this thread did start about JW Cartoons and kids - as a parent of three children what is your take on the child sex-abuse scandal in JW land?
so let me introduce myself first: i've lurked here for years because i'm working on a long-term research project concerning jehovah's witnesses and i've collected data from this site (seriously, you guys are awesome, i've learned so much from this forum i never would have learned otherwise).
i've also collected data at multiple kingdom halls and read scholarly works on jehovah's witnesses and non-scholarly works as well (e.g., crisis of conscience).
so i have a pretty good sense of jehovah's witnesses even though i was not raised in this faith nor did i ever join up.
Knock the door and speak with her - you ain't ruining her life are you? Far from it.
"Hi - I'm (name) your neighbour and live (across the hall/number 9/upstairs etc) this might seem strange but I noticed Jehovah's Witnesses were calling on you - I know it's none of my business (lift hand and look down) whatsoever but (wide open handed gesture) my background forced me to just say - "please be wary" and check the structure behind the nice facade. I don't want to make you uncomfortable so just google Jehovah's Witnesses News is my respectful suggestion. That's all I wanted to say really."
Lot's of open handed gestures - backing away as you finish the conversation so she has to call you back if she wants to talk more.

You beat me to it Moster ...
Superb journalism of the highest quality - that final paragraph hit ME like a ton of bricks too. I wonder if the mannequins are Caleb and Sophia?
...which was kind of her.
i find i like most christians, even mormons, and jw's.. she sent me a leaflet, which asks: where can we find the answers to life's big questions?
science?
You obviously practice half an hour a day then?
greetings, fellow lexophiles:.
last night, i watched a cool road movie, the trip, with steve coogan and rob brydon.
they were counseled by steve's dad to take an "anticlockwise" route home, rather than the clockwise one steve had proposed.

some people are of the opinion that it doesn't make any sense to be proud of one's nationality because we had nothing to do with where we were born.
the decision wasn't ours.
they opine that it's ludicrous to be proud of our countries' prior achievements if we had no part in those achievements because we weren't even around then.
In answer to your original question. It could be a lot worse.
I think in general terms "it" tries to do the right thing and in politics anywhere between centre left and centre right have a majority of decent people trying to serve the country.
I also think the younger generation (William, Kate and Harry) of Royals seem decent folk who connect with the public at large far better than Charles, Andrew, Anne and Edward did.
