  The initial ban on reporting by judge Geoffrey Marson was to ensure a fair trial.

  The ban to stop media reporting Tommy Robinson's arrest was a follow on from that to ensure the same goal. Because in so doing - the Judge felt - his live streaming comments may have prejudiced the case.

  The only person who can answer why in detail is the Judge in the case. Why don't you write to him and ask? A Judge has a lot of power. You need a court order in the middle of the night to ensure that doctors can treat a child or vulnerable adult and a Judge can so order.

  Imagine that at the ARC there was a raving apostate who hated child abuse and made a scene at or outside the hearings. Imagine said apostate had a history of doing it.

  I would have the utmost sympathy for him/her.

  BUT if Judge McClellan thought the antics might intimidate witnesses to the case and had said to the court ushers - "keep him outside at a distance - he isn't helping this enquiry" and the apostate persisted then he would likely get removed. If he had a "history" he might get arrested. If he had a suspended sentence against him he might go to prison.

  Barry's video and post says there WERE journalists outside Leeds Crown Court. There WERE journalists outside Rolf Harris's trial.

  The media "ban" - which was actually a "temporary" court order, I believe - was because the Judge in the case ordered it.

  As you know the Judge in a case has the power and the duty to conduct a trial fairly and he believed that Tommy Robinson's conduct was a problem as it may have impacted on the case he was trying.

  At this stage I have nothing to say that he (the judge) was someone else's puppet or had some hidden agenda.

  The ban has been lifted and "everyone" can view/comment.

  The key is in the word "Journalists" and "filming".

  Does the name Tommy Robinson evoke "Journalist" or "film-maker" in the average reader/listener?

  Do "Journalists" - as most people would describe them - generally ally themselves to a particular cause or do they try to report neutrally without inciting a point of view?

  He IS a correspondent I believe - a journalist even - but for whom?

  so in my lunch break at work today i walked in the park, just chilling out when a woman approached and offered me a leaflet.

  didn't have to read it i knew straight away who she was.. me: my family are involved with jws.

  the new world was supposed to come in the mid-seventies but it didn't.

  Rolf Harris was sent to prison. Did the judge order a press blackout at the time of his trial, similar to the one issued at the Muslim rapists' trial? If not, why not?

  No ...

  Because there was no-one outside Southwark Crown Court shouting about the trial going on inside and who may have caused a mis-trial and had the defendant get off scot free. (As I posted on page one of this thread - before all the jumping to conclusions) ...

  "As for the case he is protesting about - there is a very real danger that (if he "skews" the case by highlighting details or inciting a view that defendants are already guilty) there is a very real chance that the defence will cry "foul" and there will be a mistrial and they might get off scot-free."

  about 2 weeks ago i went on a one day motorcycle ride with about 50-60 other jw’s.

  (at least most of them claimed to be dubs) it’s an event that 2 jw fleshly brothers put on every year.

  Times have changed since you and I were young Giordano.

  Back then in the UK it was can I scrape together for an old car - OR - a motorcycle. When I was saving to get married I ditched the car for a year and just ran a motorbike!

  Nowadays (Youngsters today eh?) many can afford both a reliable car AND a decent motorbike.

  "The difference Freddo is that the authorities didn't believe or didn't know about the activities of Saville, Smith and Harris."

  Errr, I believe that the PM Margaret Thatcher knew of allegations about Saville and Smith before she recommended them for knighthood!

  But Savile was first brought to the authorities attention in 1963. More recently he was interviewed under police caution in 2007. Time and again suspicions were brought forward about him. (But like WT he was a multi millionaire able to bring legal weight to bear and with a reputation of lots of good charity work to his name and so he appeared "as an angel of light")

  Smith was mentioned in 1979 in Private Eye in connection with alleged abuse ...

  What appears to me to have happened with the Pakistani Muslim rape gangs is the "perfect storm" of cowardly do gooders not wanting to stand up against being labelled falsely as racists or faithists coupled with the reticence of the "shame" of "everyone" involved in worrying about their reputations in tackling child abuse.

  And it took just as long NOT to charge and lock up Jimmy Saville and Cyril Smith the arch pedos (who got KNIGHTED instead!) and to FINALLY lock up Rolf Harris - whose victims reported decades earlier and were ignored.

  Another One Bites the Dust!

  it's goodbye to bristol - hengrove congregation of jw's and the inmates ... err ... members, will be sent to two other bristol congregations either side of it.. i'm told by two elders from bristol, england it is being disbanded on may 1st 2018. this is the 2nd congregation in this circuit to be disbanded recently - the 1st being portishead in late 2014.. hooray!.

  Just a bump to confirm that this congregation has indeed gone the way of the dodo as predicted and Bristol - Hengrove has been removed from the jborg website and only two congs now meet at this location.

  Some history.

  Bristol- Bedminster; Bristol- Hengrove; Bristol- Stockwood; and Bristol- Bishopsworth; were the 4 congregations that covered south Bristol (UK) in the 1990's. They had 3 halls with Stockwood and Hengrove sharing one and the others having their own.

  About 15 years ago Stockwood died a death and it was absorbed, then about ten years ago the three others refurbed the Bishopsworth hall and its accompanying Circuit Overseer's flat and all three shared it and sold off their own halls. The proceeds paid for the smart new hall and the balance (ta da!) went to HQ in London.

  In 2014 when Portishead (a cong in a satellite town near south Bristol) got disbanded one third of its members got shunted into Bristol- Bishopsworth.

  Now in 2018 with the demise of Bristol- Hengrove it has been shared between Bristol-Bedminster and Bristol-Bishopsworth.

  So in fifteen years 4 congregations and one third of another have reduced to two congregations.

  Grand theocracy ever increasing!
