Thanks Doe for the video but I wouldn't call myself an extremist, I agree with the post on "balance". I believe the planet is very capable of taking care of itself as well but maybe there are other reasons of moral that we shouldn't hurt or destroy certain aspects of the planet. Just because the planet can and has been growing trees forever does it make it ok to greedily and irresponsibly take what we want? Since this WAS a post on Buddhism, I'd say I admire their understanding of their connection to the planet. Christians, and others, don't! I don't think I could explain myself to you but I tried.......wf

Maybe I should clarify a little: ORGANIZED RELIGION of any sort is the 'worst'. I said "Christianity" because that's what the guy who made the Buddhist statement was saying was better. Anything that carries a title, makes everyone else "us against them". Christianity is very, very good at that AS ARE OTHER ORGANIZED RELIGIONS! I think Johndoe was not understanding that my statements were in regard to the post topic.........wf

When I heard this on tv the first thing that came to my mind was 'ignorance'. This is the problem with those who wear the title, "Christian". They think they are superior and that they have a monopoly on 'God' and yet there's only about a billion Christians on earth! So I ask my Christian friend one day, "what are you planning to do with the other 6 billion people on the planet?" It's ignorance because they haven't broadened their minds to consider that everyone has their 'God' or Source, everyone has their own 'Holy Book'. I'm just ranting on I guess but in all of my research and IMHO, Christianity is the WORST on earth. The religion, not Jesus. Anyways............wf

When the oxygen and species full rainforest's are disappearing, when life sustaining lakes and rivers are drying out, when pollution is out of control, yes I'd say the planet needs 'healing'. To answer your question johndoe........wf

I agree with void and I might add, I believe that everything we need to heal the planet and ourselves is all within us as individuals and always has been. Once we realize that individually, we start to heal ourselves, our immediate surroundings, all the way out to the planet and beyond.....wf

The thing about people like Buddha, Jesus, Lao-tzu, these "awakened" individuals who tried to show by example what they knew inside, is that people made a "religion" out of them and ruined the real message these ones had. That's a shame, because their message was all encompasing and simple and brought us right back within for the answers. No I'm not a Buddhist but I take things from all of them and leave the 'religion' of it behind...........wf

Excellent quote from "Millions Now Living Will Never Die!"
by sd-7 in...i know that seems hard to believe.
but hey, who doesn't love the happy prospect of never dying?
certainly the folks in 1920 who received this book are still looking forward to that day with bright, beaming eyes!
