Thanks for the book recommendation, I'm going to go get it this weekend, sounds very interesting. Reminds me of what the Dali Lama said on tv yesterday when asked if he thought conditions and people on the earth were getting worse or better, he said "BETTER"! I mean the jw's wouldn't have a message if man was already making things better, they only survive on pessimism. I'm very optimistic and can feel a collective shift in people and the planet for the better!

Sign of the Last Days by Carl Oloff Johnson - Have you read it?
by mentallyfree31 ini started reading sign of the last days by carl oloff johnson this week.
i am almost to page 50 right now, and have finished the section on world famines.
wow - he really deconstructs the idea of whether famines have increased or decreased over the past 2,000 years.

LOL HB, thanks for the "update"
I can understand heated debate over Armageddon, the enslavement of the WTS, the blood issue,....................but loosing 20 lbs? Just goes to show everyone has an opinion about EVERYTHING! But that's ok to, I guess we needed to explore ALL facets of loosing 20 lbs. It's good for the newbies, LOL

They make the PUBLIC dress like this to visit Bethel? Or cant you VISIT unless you are a JW?
Yeah, that was always my question? What do they say to "worldly" people who just walk up to Bethel and want to take the tour? The would never turn them away for not wearing the right thing! When I was still in and they announced that little jewel of a brochure and then went over it a dozen times and then hung it on the board, I just rolled my eyes

Yum Mary, my type of salad! And thanks for the recipe for candied pecans, I've always wanted to try that myself! I'm making this salad this weekend. I always get something like it at the restaurants because it's so good. I love blue cheese.

Zen Living Part 10 (summarized): Breath and Other Paths to Mindfulness
by JimmyPage intechniques to help calm and focus your mind toward mindfulness include following your breath, counting your breath, visualizing, relaxing, or focusing on a visual point (such as a mandala) or a sound (such as a mantra).. many religious, philosophical, and spiritual traditions throughout the world use different meditation techniques, and all of them may be useful for quieting mental clamor.. kinhin is the walking counterpart to zazen.. eventually, you will be able to sit in awareness without techniques and then carry that awareness throughout the day..

LOVE Tolle, and the paradox here is that, like the Tao says, "this" cannont be named. I guess that's why it's hard to explain it because you have to use words, when fully "awakened" doens't have words! It is just pure conciousness. I always say, the paradox kills me, LOL!
