if i didnt get to fool around before the wedding day, i would have suffered more than mental problems for years.

Did You Ever Secretly "Sin" & The Elders Never Knew About It?
by minimus inwe, as elders, would every so often give a little talk about keeping the congregation clean and that if anyone felt the need to talk to us, to get whatever is bothering them off their chest, we would be readily available to them.
you'd be shocked to see how many would tell us some naughty things they were feeling guilty about.. i'm sure there were plenty of smart people who simply kept quiet and didn't say a word.. here's your opportunity to tell us what you wouldn't tell them..

let's see: playing touchy feely before marriage with my wife. in fact, we were only a few days from the wedding day when it got really good. before playing touchy feely with wife, had a few long baths since i had no one to play touchy feely with. smoked a cigar at a wedding for a non jw friend. more to drink that should have many times. there are a few other things but i cant give away all my secrets. yet.

what sports are frownd upon by the WT
by rockmehardplace ini joined a gym recently an.d the instructor was telling me that i would be good at starting out with some boxing due to my size and speed and previous experience prior to being a jw.
i am not sure at my age if i want to start that up and i am sure that as i fade, that it would not be in my best interest to draw unneccesary attention to myself.
but it led me to thinking.. in the usa, we are told that some sports are violent and should not be viewed.

blondie, thanks. that was the article that came to mind. it specifically mentioned auto races. the congo that i am currently fading from has a large number of people who love auto racing. they even have a group of brothers who go each year to different tracks. the sunday meeting is always about half the attendance when that race is happening.
i always wonder how sports like rugby are viewed? i would classify that with american football, although i know it is much tougher than american football
thanks for finding the article for me.

in the USA, we are told that some sports are violent and should not be viewed. i have heard specifically boxing, wrestling, martial arts. i have heard hang gliding, bungee jumping and cliff diving as well. it has been hinted by WT pictures that auto racing would be in that field, although many a jw, especially in the south, love nascar racing. football has been mentioned as well but we know how jw's feel and live for american football. in fact, i dare say, saturday field service is followed by college football, and sunday meetings is followed by pro football in the fall.
around the world, what other sports are considered a no-no? for example, what of rugby? soccer?

According to bookstudy, it's ok to beat wife.....occassionally
by JWinprotest ini apologize if this has been mentioned, but i don't have the time to come on here as often.
yesterday's bookstudy on divorce got my shorts in a bit of a knot.
apparently, according to the god's love book, a wife could consider legal separation from her husband if she is physically abused, but (get this) only in the case of extreme physical abuse, and if the wife's life is in danger.

in all my time in the congregation and every congregation i had been associated, once was enough. we never encouraged or discouraged a sister what to do. if she chose to stay with him, that was her decision. if she chose to leave, likewise.
i will say that what t'd me off most about it was that some idiot thought from the beginning it was ok to do this.
we had one guy who would grab his wife by the arm all the time really hard, even in front of people. her dad, an elder, had enough one day and went and confronted him in the back of the kh. well, the brother stated it was his business and no one else's. well, elder dad and a few other brothers decided to meet him after the meeting was over off of kh property. it was never known what happened, but this brother never made face again at the meetings and she left him that night and moved back in with dad. there was always rumors that he got what he once dished out, but there was never two witnesses to step forward and admit anything.

A Visitor At Work
by Cthulhu inso i have not turned in any service time in four months or so.
this elder, who also happens to be the congregation secretary stops in at my job today.
i work for a cellular phone retailer in my home town, so he came in and conversed for a bit about his plan and different options we might be able to work with.

one night i received a phone call from one of my elder buddies at the time and he asked me to go get something to eat with him at a local all night restaurant where a sister worked. she had not been to meetings in some time and when people inquired, she said it was her work schedule since she worked two jobs. so at midnight, and mind you he said i had to wear a suit since this was going to be a shepherding call, we went for a midnight breakfast. we walked in and asked if she was working, and she was. we, i mean he, asked to be put in her section and they did. he preteneded the whole time we were there that we were just getting a late snack. before we left he laid into her about not being at meetings and how it makes her family feel. he also told her that she was turning her back on jehovah. she broke down in tears at her job because she was hiding the fact that she had been dating a guy she worked with at her other job, which was her primary income. he told her that she had to quit and do something else to get away from him. he then got up and paid the bill and walked out the door. i noticed that he left a lousy tip for her so i went back to the table as she was cleaning up and told her not to make any decisions until she has time to think clearly because it was obviously unfair to attack her at work. i then gave her a tip which was more than our bill and left. the entire trip back to my house i let him have it that it was obviously not appropriate and i used very strong language to convey it. the sister ended up quitting both jobs and moving away and actually is still in and now married to a ms. supposedly pioneering but not sure. sad, because it validated how he handled the situation as if it was the right way when we all know that this is not. he got lucky

i have always watched up to R rated movies. it never bothered me since i was an adult. i have jw friends who watch them as well. but i know which ones i can watch these with and which ones not to. sad that i have to hide movies in my home when visitors come calling.

What does a congregations 'record' say about it?
by babygirl30 inthe cong i belonged to was very large...it was the 'popular' hall!
i say that because it was a new building (double-khall), a lot of families went to this hall whether they were in the territory or not - if their relation went there or their 'friends' were in this cong - they came too!
lots of young couples...they drank together, they partied together, they go out clubbing together, and they all had their kids together.

cantleave has it right. the first question would be directed at the elder body. it would be looked to them to see if there is a secret sin. if nothing is found, a "shake up" of the body may take place deleting some if not all the body and bringing in a new group. however, not to that degree, but all congos have problems. we had one congo in our circuit that was very large and was a popular congo due to all the opportunities for young people to be together, alot of spiritual families. within a period of six months after the first younger person was df'd, a whole group of younger ones were either df'd or put on some sort of reproof. many left, only one or two came back after a few years. the elder body did get a big shake up at one point, which seemed to bring things back in line. i tend to believe things like this are cyclical though. maybe time for fresh blood to run the house for awhile.

switching congos
by rockmehardplace inspoke with a friend of mine and he was telling me of all the changes in his congo.
said that at one time, the elder body was 95% white and 5% minority.
he said that they have had people who are moving into their congo because the larger percentage of the body is now made up of minorities.

spoke with a friend of mine and he was telling me of all the changes in his congo. said that at one time, the elder body was 95% white and 5% minority. now, it is 40/60. he said that they have had people who are moving into their congo because the larger percentage of the body is now made up of minorities. even one elder left his current congo to move into the new congo because there is some "color" in the body as the elder put it. does this happen in alot of congos? just thinking about how race was never an issue to jw's but the truth is, it really does play a large role in the congos.
