i was watching the cnn this evening..watched hilliary clinton walk towards some dignataries in a foreign land.

i saw that she was well dressed in a pant suit.

she is the us secretary of state, and what she wore was dignified.

Very good points made here. I think if I do go to another meeting I am wearing dress pants and a blouse. I am a manager at work and that is how I dress. I rarely wear skirts. I hope the elders say something to me so I can look them right in the face and laugh and possiby tell them to go f@#k themselves!

Thanks LHG, sometimes I feel that I am the only one who honestly thinks the society hates women. Oh and like you I never let it taint my view of myself either. Good for you I am a very just person and it enrages me that the society uses the bible to keep women downtrodden and oppressed. If there is any way I can do something to stop it or help somebody else I will. I can't easily detach myself from the main issue. To me it is a serious social issue and anyway I can fight it I will. It is like my new favorite quote:

Injustice will continue until those who are not affected by it are just as enraged as those who are.

Oh and does anyone remember the article about tipping your hat to a woman? They put that on the same level as worshipping women and also said that it goes against the natural order as God put man over woman and she is not to be put on a pedastal....Seriously does anyone not see the rage and downright hatred of women in this religion....Seriously.

Yes I agree that the society treats all people as shit but I feel they truly hate women......if you look at "women issues"....... before somebody says men are victims of the things I am going to mention remember they are predominately women issues:

Rape, child molestation, domestic violence and child rearing.

Rape: If WOMAN does not scream (I have never heard them say even though this scriptures says woman the same standard would be true for a man raping another man....has anyone ever ead that-nope don't think so) when being raped she has committed fornication.b...WTH. Also back in the 70's and 80's they said twice womankind was to blame for rape because they use boys as sexual playthings when they are little.....again WTF?

Molestation: Never taken seriously. Must have two witnesses to the SAME account.

Domestic violence: Women are encouraged to stay with abusive mate because the society says crap like "Can you support yourself if you leave your mate?" "What about your sexual desires?" "What about your children?" Again, WTF?

Child rearing: The society always puts that on women. At meetings, assemblies how often do you see some women get up again and again with the kids? How often do you see the dad in the family get up with the kids over and over? At one of our assemblies the nursing mother's room was in a freakin closet.....If men breastfed I can guarantee they would have never made a freakin closet the room to nurse your baby. Are there any support groups for new moms in the JW religion? What about understanding postpartum depression and supporting a new mom with that? Again, nope.

There is a special hatreds towards women in JW land. Just because all people in the org are treated like shit does not diminish the abuse and mistreatment of women. Like I said it is a special hatreds. If Rutherford called women "a bag of bones" or something to that effect and that was the leader at the time what does that tell you? They want women to be loyal dogs. Seen and not heard just like good little children. Men may be treated like shit in the org but not to the degree a women is. They assign NO dignity to women at all.

Yes, women are treated like shit in this religion. Men are treated as all potential for leadership. Males, should choose to not reach out for leadership, are treated as second class. Women, if they show leadership, are told to mind their place.

Well I don't see the governing body, which is made up of all men as "victims" and I don't see circuit overseers, elders or presiding overseers as victims, which are all male. I don't see the eager young asshole wanna be elder as a victim who is also male. Going with your reasoning nobody "made" them take their positions and they can leave at any time.....so the male mysognystic assholes in the religion are "victims" but as you say:

So all the men are victims and the women are not? I am a little confused...

I just think it is interesting whenever there is a thread on how women are treated unfairly, which was the point of the thread how many jump in and for some reason feel the need to defend men in general. Yes I pointed out to bandontherun that she should not make broad generalizations and they we all don't fit in little boxes but her main point, which is the way women are treated in the JW religion is wrong and they should stand up for themselves, agree 100%.

Many have pointed out why women allow themselves to be treated like that and high control JW groups use the Bible to make women feel guilty for not being in the submissive women mold......I would say that is emotional blackmail and it is wrong. They feel that by submitting themselves to their husband they are in fact submitting themselves to God and that is why they do that.

Also you said:

You really think some JW are happy with that arrangement.....really? We all know better.Do you also think victims of domestic violence, which are the majority women also have the "ability to get up and leave?".....It is proven that domestic violence and the JW religion go hand and hand....think about it.

I think the point is missed. It's fine if it works in your relationship for the husband not to be as dominat. Surprise surprise that is how it is in my relationship but there is a mutual respect for each other as individuals. However, the point is on this thread is that the society pushes only one acceptable role for women and that is of the passive, submissive role. Have any of you ever seen a publication that promotes the wife to be dominant and the husband to be in submission?.....I think not. So again the point of the thread is not what works for each individual but the the fact that the society continually puts women as the weaker, inferior, submissve and helper role. It would be different if they said "Well as we know it is Unchristian to stereotype. Jesus never did and so following his example neither should we. So we shall leave it up to indivual couples to decide what works for them." However, that has never been said and will never be said by the society because as Ziddina pointed out it is a mysognistc organization threated by strong women. Again the point is not works for you individually but what the SOCIETY promotes that is making the OP angry....just saying.

Visiting MIL tomorrow - says she has a present for us!

we are visiting my husband's parents tomorrow but over the phone mil says she has a present for us.. the only time that she has given us a present in the eight years i have known them was one of the little books we used for the tuesday evening book study, this was presented to me all wrapped nicely in pretty paper.. i just hope that we are not in for a witnessing!.

if it is another book there is no way i am bringing it home, i don't want any more jw crap in our house.

we will just conveniently forget to pick it up.
