cameo-d thank you for the first post on this tread, I found it very insightfull... the hand disturbs me but what disturbs me most of all is that I never noticed it when I first read the book, I never noticed half of the creepy things in WT illustrations, I think thats why I dumpped the books back at the KH when I ceased my studies (i took the rubbish out to the dump LOL).

This Disturbs Me Most of All
by cameo-d inno, it's not the "claw hand"!
what disturbs me most of all is the potter's shards.. any coin collector will tell you that the "imperfect" coins are the most valuable.
any art historian will tell you that the value of a painting is it's originality and uniqueness and the talent that can only come with time, suffering, and perserverence.. it is the oddities and quirks in one of a kind pieces that make them a delight and a treasure.. so why is it that this potter has no appreciation for uniqueness?

Imputation- do you agree?
by Lillith26 inimputation is the concept that we are all sinners because of the original sin of adam.
and our only redemption is found in the sacrifice of christ on the cross/stake.
imputation implies that guilt passes from person to person from generation to generation, and redemption is passed from christ to us.

DeputyDog- for someone who was not a JW, you sure like quoting scriptures to prove your point! I have some more usefull ways to use your bible 1) for when the toilet paper runs out. 2) to get the wood heater started. 3) paper mache hats for the kids 4) glueing all the pages together except the front cover, cut out the centre and use it to hide your weed stash!
Time and time again the myths this book contains have been proven false, this is not the written words of the real creator, sacrificing a goat will not heal the sick, you can NOT hold an unborn child accountable for the actions of his ancestors and last but not least- you can not love something you are afraid of!

DeputyDog- it's is not god holding you accountable for your past actions- it's YOU! that feeling of unease you get when you are about to do or say something wronge is designed "by" god to prevent you from following through on this action and if you go ahead and do it anyway GUILT is what follows. You need to learn how to learn from your mistakes and forgive yourself for being the mere mortal you were designed to be!

Is some sort of family structure necessary for a meaningful life?
by The Berean ini have seen the tradition both as a help and as a burden ....
-
Lillith26
I have two families- the one i share DNA with and the family I chose to have around me. I have know my sister for 10 years now, my children call her Aunty and we are closer than real sisters (this kinda goes against the bloods thicker than water theory). We dont need a traditional family structure to live a meaningfull life- regardless of DNA, as long as we surround ourselves with a few good people who love us we have a REAL family and can have a meaningful life together.

DeputyDog- When I look at nature I see a balance, how would you know what "good" is if you never new it's oppersite??? I respect the natural order- I was born from this earth and one day I will die and return to it. Fear is a method of control and it is one that many religious leaders have used to there own advantage. Healthy fear can keep you safe from physical harm in nature baut the fear of man (religious leaders) will only keep you safe from learning that they are full of crap and want to control you to feed their own greed!
Faith may be gift but blind faith can be distructive- some of us need a REASON to believe and will question the others motives/facts before placing their trust or faith in them!

DeputyDog-I was never baptised, so in theory- I was never one either! I did the study and have since studied the org along with all the other main religions. I've probably studied Calvanism more than you have- to me it's just a watered down and appologetic version of christianity! you know the kind- "yeah the bible does say that, but your reading it the wronge way...", you know depending on your motives or what point your trying to prove, you can pretty much make that book say anything you like! are you for or against slavery?? on one hand it gives you price list for the value of different aged/gendered people or it tells you to be slaves of christ- wait... the book is for slavery!
(Sorry, sarcasim does not translate well into type- would like God to send you a prophet to explain this to you???)

DeputyDog- As a Deist I believe in a creator- even though it's an American saying, "in Natures God I trust". I've been were you are and just like many others on this forum I too bought into the lies of the WTB, but not everything they told us was total BS. In the very begining of my studies I was taught to see the designs in nature as it is full of edvidence of a creator, I was asked to use my own logic/reasoning and to trust my heart to learn about the creator- then I had JoHo shoved down my neck, I was told to just have faith and to not trust my heart as I was full of sin and that the heart lies, I was told that I am not allowed to use my own logic/reason to understand the teaching of the bible as JoHo's thoughts are higher than my own- any of this sound familiar to you??? We all left either physically or emotionally from that cult for our personal reasons- some have moved on to other religions based on the bible, some to the quoran, others to buddasim and some to athesim... I followed my heart and discovered that Deism was the only other logical choice besides atheism.
The God of nature and creator of the universe does not require a human prophet to translate 'gods will or message' to us, it is already written in nature, it is there for all to see, it publishes it's self and will remain long after our world is gone.
Unlike alot of people I am too humble to assign the creator a personal name or gender class! As I said in an earlier post on this tread- I think all revealed religion need to go back and re-think their theology!
