i heard a story a long time ago that the bible is like a bottle of fine wine that everyone has been taking a drink out of and putting a little water in it so the bottle still appears to be full, but there has been so many people that have taken turns before us taking a drink of fine wine and replacing it with water that there is only a little bit of fine wine left in the bottle but there is still some fine wine in the bottle.. john 10:27my sheep listen to my voice, and i know them, and they follow me.. i was also told that in the pass that some rulers found that it was easier to control people by putting things in the bible, like putting in the bible that the people were to give a percentage of all there earnings.
it was easier to get the people to give them money if they believed god required it then to get them to give money because a man required it.
history is not my good subject so it is hard for me to determine weather this statement is true, but i have observed that people have at the very least altered the words in the bible to help you understand the bible according to what they believe.. any inputs?.
LOL

I thought alcohol killed bacteria???? and it's pretty unlikley that you'll catch anything real bad from sharing a glass of wine- unless you drink too much LOL
Trueblue can you spot the lady in the picture thats doing this ?? lol... i'd need lot's of Liquor for that.....cause, ummn..... LOL
you know when you are dating you do all those cute things for each other...all the little text messages, random calls, make out sessions, cuddling.
it's great and you love it.
but should that all stop or change because you get married?
Romance???? I forgot what that was! if my hubby brought home flowers I would demand to know exactly what hes done WRONGE... and that is sooo sad
You do get tired of hinting that would you like a bit more "romance", conversation etc.... but if you've got to ask for it, thats a good sign that the 'honeymoon' is definatly over!!!!!!
Shit! I just realized how crap my marriage really is....... I'd ask to go on a date with him, but what would we talk about?? I think I've just spent the last 8 years of my life living with a total stranger- who the hell did I marry..... ?????
Welcome Aussie.....
okay, i'm dating myself, record albums and all that, but i remember as a kid in the 80's, everyone was playing their albums backwards looking for some hidden satanic message.
my older brothers got talked into throwing a couple of their moody blues albums away.
anyway, it was all the craze in my hall.
Def Leppard have actually recorded bits of their songs being played backwards on a few tracks- in music terms it's called 'the devils medium', but it's just a name for it! it makes for some great sound effects in songs....
in another thread, creativhoney said:.
the bible says there is no greater gift than you lay down your life for another, the bible refers to blood as life.
i conclude we should all give blood.. and chalam replied:.
I have an iron defeciency... otherwise I would be blood donor... I am on the organ donor register in Australia though- so if there is anything left when I go that is still useable, they can have it!
how many times we had heard from jw (commenting on christmass, mothers day or bithdays) "they dont need a pecial day set to give gifts, because the can give it on any day" .... but whats your experience if you compare jw and non jw ... are they really giving?.
my sons (7) example:.
he has non jw grandparents: gets all kinds of gifts all the time, sweets, magazines, toys,.
I always get into trouble off my family if I forget to call on birthdays and aniversaries etc... but I am the only one in my family that remembers they even exist every other day of the year... I call on a regular basis just to see if everyone is doing alright and offer help and give it when I can, but to be honest, with a few exceptions- the rest of my family are a materialistic bunch of pricks and would prefer I just sent a card or called a few times a year instead of actually caring about them and being there for them ... I dont have a lot of money to buy gifts outside of my own home, all I really have to give is my love and time, and that is what counts isn't it??? well thats what I will teaching my children, your love and time is the most special gift you can give... and that you dont have to wait for a particual day to give!

I was refering to the voice that Shelby hears ... that would kind of freak me out if it did ever happen to me

Trueblue... I can relate to your train of thought here... I have as of late been taking a serious look into christianity... although I consider myself a deist of sorts I am still very drawn to the things that science can NOT explain... I dont believe the bible to be the written word of god or any other 'holy book' for that matter... if salvation (returning to god upon our physical death) really depended on a book then imho we're all screwed!... What Shelby says in her posts, really does make a lot of sense to me, and some parts of what is written in the bible does confirm this- if you REALLY want to know, then just ask HIM... it sounds too simple I know, but it does make a lot of sense... not too sure how I would react if he spoke back though it could end up being moist towelette time
