Deborah
by berrygerry ini, like many others, was furiously emailing about deborah when the issue of only male elders came up.. it seemed curious that angus didn't address deborah, as he surely knew of it.. thankfully, ol' geoff, and wt, cannot resist trying to get in a last word, which opened the door for angus.
(he's one cool customer.).
341 in his written statement provided to the royal commission following the close of thepublic hearing, mr jackson offered the relevant scriptural references to which headverted but was unable to provide during the hearing.

Its easy to make calls from the sidelines but put us in the middle of the heated hearing and we'd make mistakes too. -

Impact of the Royal Commission of Inquiry on JW policies and procedures
by steve2 inthe royal commission is not yet over.
the summary of findings on jws is not the end of the story.
the legal process is unfolding and the only open question is the extent to which jw organization in australia will be legally mandated to change its policies and procedures on child sexual abuse.. (on the question of shunning those who leave, the commission is well intended but has strayed beyond its legal brief.

Tho I don't agree with most views here I told the elders in my hall 10 years ago that we need an updated policy on child abuse. They looked at me like I was from a different planet. Fast forward till now and my words have a strong ring of truth. -

Elder harassed my mom and asked for donation
by kaik inmy mom had surgery last month and she developed complication and had to be on antibiotics to treat infection.
so, she is recovering slowly, but things was tough on her and she was not attending kh or went to assembly two weeks ago.
nonetheless, elder showed up at her place and instead providing her with comfort he started to harass her that her faith is weak, she does not put trust in jah, etc.

Divergent
"I believe that the more surpressed a person is, the more they would go wild once they leave! JW's are a surpressed lot & it's not surprising that many who leave would experiment which various activities which they were forbidden to engage in before
However, the perspective of morals is something which is subjective. Smoking? I don't smoke myself, nor would I encourage it, but I won't go as far as saying that a person who smokes is not moral. Same thing with drugs & getting drunk. Homosexuality? You would have a different perspective if you were born differently. Sex before marriage? I see nothing wrong with that, just practice safe sex!
Anyway, from personal experience, the things you mentioned above do not apply to those who I've seen who left, except for the fornication part, which I don't believe is wrong. Withregard to the things which the OP mentioned, I would say that they are DEFINITELY more more ethical / aware in that sense. I can speak as one of them! =)"
Thats the problem with society today. Everyone has a different definition of "morals". No wonder the world has gone to hell in a hand basket. Someone or something has to set the standards. No one knows right from wrong anymore.

I watched carefully those who left through the 30+ years when I was a regular JW. I never once saw anyone who left become more "moral". Actually quite the contrary. Smoking, drugs, sex with same sex, fornication and drunken recklessness most times. Stack atheist on that moral morass. -

Nothing new. Personal opinion has no place in a court of law. Just the facts. -

The Shit Has Just Started Hitting The Fan For The WT Corporation, Nightmare Stage!
by Brokeback Watchtower inas with any course which is based on pure wishful thinking(which is the wt corporation based on) has different stages.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/wishful_thinking.
some psychologists believe that positive thinking is able to positively influence behavior and so bring about better results.
this is called "pygmalion effect".

MAGNUM:I think that it's being overly simplistic to make a comparison between the JW organization and other 'large corporations'. The situations are different, but even if they weren't, it must be noted that large corporations can rapidly lose momentum as the winds change. The winds have changed and are changing in JW land.
Also, you indicate that the fact that the org is "funded by donations" and "has millions of free laborers" is what will keep it going. I think the fact that it's dependent on such be will be its downfall. Recruiting from the field is not working, and I think a lot of those on the inside are going to wake up or become complacent, so I think their numbers are going to go down and they won't have as many to donate money and time and efforts. Also, I think that some, if not many, are going to donate less.
I think the JW leaders might sense this, and that's at least partly why they've taken over Kingdom Halls, set congregations up to make monthly payments, etc.
I stand by my statement. Many here "want" to see more or "wish" for more. Wishing and wanting does not make something so. The fact is they are handling the logistics for the long haul. The setbacks have led to cutbacks, streamlining and simplification. Many revel in the fact of the cutbacks but the truth is they will secure a longevity that will prob outlast us.
