The Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body are Elitists (Here is why)
by Terry inan "elite" group is one which has special privileges not granted to others.. and obscurantist elite, is a group which hides information by virtue of its own claim to be special and a sole source in dispensing necessary truths.. to wit:.
the gb's elitism shines through in articles such as this:.
“thus the bible is an organizational book and belongs to the christian congregation as an organization, not to individuals , regardless of how sincerely they may believe that they can interpret the bible .

@Finkel. I appreciate you sharing your points. I said it was "similar", not exact. All religions have rules and they enforce them to varying degrees. Look at the Middle East or Africa for example. Yes, JW's are a little harsh but pale in comparison to some of the religions in those regions. And let's not even review older or even ancient religions and their practices. The atrocities are well established. -

All religions try to get their members to adhere to their purpose and goal. I run a couple of small companies. I have a business vision. Is it wrong to ask my employees to adhere to my vision and not deviate too far from it?
What about a franchise? A franchisor has to develop rules and regulations down to the finest detail. A franchisee is not allowed to deviate one iota from the written plan. Imagine if McDonalds franchises went astray. What would happen? The brand would be damaged. Similar, any organized religion must have certain stipulations or the brand, or religion, will be damaged or altered. Consistency must be maintained, or as we know it, unity.

What's a word that describes the way Witnesses behave as a group?
by paul from cleveland ini can't recall the word that describes a group that keeps to itself like the witnesses do.
i thought it was "insular" but i don't think that's the one i'm looking for after reading the definition.
i remember an elder using the word "clannish" and that has the proper definition but it reminds me of a group of elves.

What authority have the GB got left to them?
by Half banana in( jw governing body members are invited to respond) .
however professional and glossy their pr makeover is, as seen on jw tv and the jw org logo... the bottom line is that 19th century religious adventist claims are no longer sexy..
to outsiders the jw org now has all the allure of a donkey wearing lipstick..

Get over yourselves. The org is going nowhere except into the future. The momentum they have established will easily weather another 100 years of storms thrown their way. -

What Is The Watchtower's Biggest Problem?
by minimus inthe organization has many problems.
certain doctrines are problematic.
the men who run the organizaion have issues.

You guys are hilarious. You have no idea about business/religion infrastructure. Once an entity gains momentum it then becomes its own entity through momentum. The org has plenty of momentum to last another 100 years plus.
Yes it has problems, doesn't every person, business or religion. With the recent downsizing, restructuring and tightening up on spending they secure themselves for battles to come. Get used to it. The org is not going anywhere.

Elder's daughter is after me
by theBaus inshe is michal, her father acts like saul, and i'm david.. i do care for her since she's vulnerable and weak, i consider myself for her protector a personal kevin kostner.but this is very time consuming, nerve wracking endeavour.. she acts childish, insensitive and insecure, i have spent *** dont' know how many sleepless *** nights, in the last 3 months we're playing cat and mouse, cold and warm & i'm fed up.. this kind of irresponsible behaviour is not yet written in the manual for me to look for an answer.. but finally i do know what i need.
i will look for my bathsheba and settle down..

Funds down, lawsuits and slow economy. Cut backs, saving and streamlining. Smart move to preserve a place to worship.
