  Call from elder

  i received a call a few hours ago from an elder.of course he didn't call me to ask how i was or if i needed help.instead he told me that "the youth and some older brothers" of my congregation will gather (at another elder's house,you see 2 elders to "get a hold of the situation") to talk about the "internet,facebook etc dangers".i told him that i will go.hmmm...it's going to be an interesting conversation..

  Ever feel guilty listening to the Rolling Stones as a dub?

  this is aimed more for people who grew up when the beatles and stones were first popular, i guess.

  now it's completely silly and ridiculous, but it's funny how hearing an old song on the radio can bring back certain memories.... back in the 60s, early 70s i was a big beatles fan but for the most part none of their music was ever labeled 'dangerous' or 'subversive', even as a youth growing up in the jw cult.

  even their more psyhcedelic stuff was tamer than other bands of the era.

  oh, i know it's the 4th of july, a holiday in the usa celebrating the country breaking away from britain.

  we can "celebrate" that too if we want.. i am talking about your personal independence.

  you (most of you anyway) are free to think what you want and read what you want and walk into any church or temple if you want.

  I love being independent, to think without having a bunch of octogenarian men mandating to me how I should live my life, and feel guilty if I don't agree with them. I hope you are enjoying your freedom, and celebrating it with other like minded escapees at your celebration out west. We in the east are reveling in this freedom too. I look forward to seeing you soon!

  Our Southern Friends- Are you Pissed about the Oil Spill? I Know I Am ...... !

  ......... and i live out here in northern california !

  i mean , they go to all that humungous labor, build a huge box to put over the oil gushing out and wham 5,000 ft. deep it gets clogged with ice crystals.

  now they are talking about a couple other alternatives in the news- all the while today haliburton, bp, and other reps are meeting with federal officials getting into a pissing match and fight over who is responsible for the spill ?

  One of my favorite places in the world is the Florida Keys. THe oil is supposed to be there in less than a week, and it will kill the only living US coral reef. I am sickened.
