as an ex-jw do you tell people about your jw past?
how much detail do you go into when you tell non-jw's about the organization.
i usually only ever say anything if somebody asks about my religious affiliation or mentions jw's.
Only when appropriate. I sure don't put it on my resume.

his reaction wasnt as liberal as i hoped it would be.
he said that we needed to discuss it.
however, gone are the days where im putting myself in the firing line and not sticking up for myself.
Become agnostic, it works for me.
JK
..is there any?
bear in mind what jesus himself said: john 15:24 new international version (niv) 24 if i had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin.
as it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my father..
I think that the GB has self-applied Matthew 24:45-47 to death. They self proclaim that it applies to them, and that is their flimsiest proof, and the only one they have. Lame!
JK
ever notice how many new testament verses show jesus in support of taking up a sword or going out and buying a sword?.
"prince of peace" yet, "do not think i came to bring peace, i came to bring, not peace, but a sword".... (i'm paraphrasing from mat 10:34).
luk_22:36 he said to them, "but now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack.
in case you haven't heard, the november 15, 2011 watchtower, page 5 made this comment.
"today, no servant of jehovah uses physical force against opponents of pureworship.
"vengeance is mine," god says.
Bookmark for when you have the quote.
Thanks!

since leaving the organization 8 years ago, there have been more significant changes in the actual, physical activities of the organization than occurred in all the 40 plus years i was 'in'.
bethel closings.
bethel layoffs.
Sad to say, no. I see a slow steady decline coming, but no implosion. They have a large enough warchest to milk things out for decades.

it's actually 4pm right now in south africa.
is the hour of the end still on the way?.
The need is greater in my pants. Do any women want to get some today? After that, your options are only to look like OBVES' old girlfriend, and hope he chooses you.
This is like going to a bar with a mutant as your wingman. I am looking pretty studley right about now!

i believe in curses.
the billygoat.
the bambino.. the sox just lost to the yankees 6-5 after leading by three in the 8th.. we all know what happened to the cubs.. and i believe in the rally monkey too, from last year's angels (though i guess he's looking for work these days, poor little fella).. this is all in kidding, but it does make me wonder.....are some teams "cursed"?
rocketman,
What should us Cub fans want, a championship every 103 years or so? I have faith it will happen in my lifetime, just not this year.

dublin news story contains a blatant lie from the mouth of a jw spokesman:.
http://www.thejournal.ie/need-for-discussions-between-hospitals-and-jehovahs-witness-patients-234833-sep2011/.
a court order granted today to allow the coombe hospital give a baby a blood transfusion against the wishes of her parents underscores the need for more discussions to take place between hospital staff and patients, says a dublin branch of jehovahs witnesses.. harry homan, from the south dublin hospital liaison committee said that the issue highlighted the relationship between hospital staff and jehovahs witness patients.. he said, however, that there is already healthy discussions happening across the country.. the parents in this case are very happy with the hospital and the care being give to their baby, homan told thejournal.ie.. there is an excellent relationship between the parents and staff and the child is receiving the best of care.. he added that a blood transfusion will only be given to the premature baby as a last resort.. at the moment, she is doing well, said homan.. rte reports that the transfusion will be given to the baby if her condition deteriorates and it is necessary to save her life.. hospitals are acutely aware of the dangers associated with blood transfusions, claimed homan, adding that it is in everyones best interests to seek alternatives.. he said the position of jehovahs witnesses is perfectly clear on the matter of blood transfusions.. we do refuse transfusions, he said.
It is all about litigation and potential litigation.

i just thought i would flag this as something i have long despised about the magazines, since long before i made the decision to distance myself emotionally from the the organization.
this isn't a big deal or anything, and ranks way down on my list of concerns about the society, but i felt it was worth mentioning nonetheless.. as you will know, frequently in the magazines an experience will be quoted (portrayed as being real, although we are often left wondering whether it is), and in such an experience a name will be mentioned followed by an asterisk (*) which leads to a footnote which reads "some names have been changed.".
out of interest, i went on my 2010 watchtower library and typed in "some names have been changed", and found that this footnote had been repeated no less than 69 times between 1994 and 2010 (39 times in the watchtower, and 30 times in the awake).
I think that the Governing Body should all be referred to as Dick, because they are all dicks.
