it's like having a thousand rocks piled on your chest, while you are being drowned, with a pillow over your face, with a plastic bag tied over your head, while having your hands and feet tied down, while you are being disemboweled, while electrodes attached to your genitals shock you.

Being a JW is like......
by LouBelle insitting down to whatever is dished up in front of you and eating it.
it requires very little brain power or imagination.
you just shovel in the food, burp, pat your tummy and no matter what it is you've eaten think it's a great meal.. being a free thinker is like a chef, the one who gets to construct the meal, thought is required, knowledge of what works together is required, a desire to cook the meal, imaginiation.. .

It's almost like facing an abuser or something. (Please forgive that analogy, any who have been abused).
No Forgiveness needed Beks, you were abused as we all were that believed at one point. It's called Spiritual Abuse and its something that takes a lot to get over. It's why most X-JW's cringe at anything religious around them after they leave getting the "sick-in-the-stomach-some-one-is-being-a-self-righteous-jerk" feeling. It's because not only did they abuse us on the inside but they poisioned us against being spiritual on the outside with out the WT. Frigg'n A**holes, you should have kicked that CO's ass.

Beks: That was me I confess. Some things you said got me mad on another thread so I signed you up for the "free bible study". All I can say is next week I hope you like boys on bikes in black ties. I bet you didn't know Jesus came to America, LOL. <tongue pressed firmly in cheek>
Reniaa:
reality that is we are just ordinary people who worship our God Jehovah through his son Jesus christ
You are F*ck'n kidding me right? I think you are pretty sincere about most of the things you say but the JW's don't worship God or believe in Christ. Most of their beliefs are based on twisting prophecies from the Old Testament that were already fulfilled and some how compiling that with flawed logic and out of context verse with the New Testament. I feel sorry for you Reniaa that you can't see how confused your mind is. It is like an alzheimer's patient losing grasp so it reaches back into the past and does anything it can to connect the dots. You're like my Grandpa who forgot he went to the grocery store and it's 1990 so his brain finds an Asian man's face in the crowd and computes that it must me 1945 and he is Okinawa again. You need to get professional deprogramming.
Really what do we have to win by changing you or any other JW's mind? We get no service hours, no points with the Service Overseer for it. We are just being people and trying to be nice and supportive. Furthermore why do you come here? I have the answer, If you aren't crazy its your need to feel important. Sex and the need to feel important are the two biggest motivators in human nature. You come here thinking you are dodging spiritual attacks from apostates and coming out on top. It makes you feel important like our mission is to convert you. Truth (there's a scary word eh) is it doesn't matter what you do. We don't need you to change to belive what we know, but you need us to be who you think we are (worldy, evil, etc) in order for you to believe the Watchtower is the truth.

If you believe in Christ then I would say a simple prayer to God asking forgivness and confessing Jesus as your saviour. After that go to a different church every week (especially non-denominationals) until you find one that fits. JW's take adavantge of your vulnerability and will offer you answers that will not yield any real truth. Are you looking for faith or looking for answers? If it is faith that is something that you will only get by learning to lean on God and asking him like a Child for what you want. Good luck, and sorry to hear about your Grandmother.

The Minke whales are not endagered the Fins are considered endangered. Here is some more background. It honestly looks like both sides could be right legally. Someone needs to settle this before a human not a whale is seriously injured. In the meantime it's some great TV.
LEOLAIA- What is your personal reason? It's kind of a waste of a post not to say. You are too polite, this is a message board it's full of obnoxious personal opnions. LOL
From wikipedia (so it has to be true) but it does appear accurate:
Establishment of the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary was agreed upon by the IWC in 1994 with 23 countries supporting the agreement and only Japan opposing it.
The status of the Southern Ocean Sanctuary is reviewed and open to change by the IWC every 10 years. [ 1 ] During the 2004 meeting a proposal was made by Japan to remove the sanctuary, but it failed to reach the 75% majority required (it received 25 votes in favour and 30 votes against with two abstentions).
As sanctuaries only apply to commercial whaling, Japan has continued to hunt whales inside the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary because its whaling is done in accordance with a provision in the IWC charter permitting whaling for the purposes of scientific research (Japan also lodged a formal objection to the sanctuary with regard to minke whales, meaning that, in accordance with IWC rules, the terms of the sanctuary do not apply to Japan with respect to minkes). [ 2 ] The catch of the 2005 season (Dec 05-Mar 06) inside the sanctuary included 856 minke whales and ten of the endangered Fin whale. In 2007 - 2008 Japan planned to take 935 minke whales and 50 fin whales.

Christians risk rejection and discrimination for their faith in Britain.
by BurnTheShips inthe first poll of britain's churchgoers, carried out for the sunday telegraph, found that thousands of them believe they are being turned down for promotion because of their faith.. one in five said that they had faced opposition at work because of their beliefs.. more than half of them revealed that they had suffered some form of persecution for being a christian.. the findings suggest a growing hostility towards religion in this country, which has been highlighted by a series of clashes between churchgoers and their employers.. and so on.

Even though that display is in front of innocent human life. Perfect.
As I've said numerous times now, I myself do not believe I could have an abortion. Fortunately I have never been in a position to wonder. I just don't believe that I have the right to make that decision for another. I'm also faaaaaaaaaaaar and away more concerned with the health and safety of those alive and living. Not to mention the prevention of pregnancy in the first place.
Much better Beks, this is an opinion followed by statements supporting that position. Much better than name calling.
While I agree I don't have the responsiblity of making that decision for someone, I do have another responsibility. I can't support elective
abortion by doing nothing. So I feel responsible for supporting my side of the debate. If I keep silent than the only ones that will say anything
will be the crazy nuts that shoot doctors. That would fall into the oppositions favor allowing them to paint us Pro-lifers as crazy mad men.
To bring it back on topic, there are many times at work when my faith guides my actions or decisions. Sometimes I am even questioned on
those decisions. Should I cower and hide the fact that my faith leads me to make an unpopular decision with my boss? Absolutely not, that is
my right if I choose to disclose. Ofcourse it's his right to fire my butt too. Ahhhh... the circle of rights it never ends does it?

Beks, I came to that conclusion based on personal comments you have directed towards me on other threads but maybe you are turning a new leaf here.
I believe what I believe because of who I am not because of who you or any other Pro-choicer might be. I wonder sometimes if the Anti-Abortion folks were God loathing liberals if you would still be Pro-choice.
All you really do is say that your side is cool and the opposition are jerks. You never provide, facts, logic or reasoning to back up your position.

Answer:
Christ was the son of God and Perfect. Becoming a Christian doesn't make you any less human.
That's like saying if you are a boxer and not as good as Muhammed Ali you are a hypocrit.
Just say you hate God and Christians and move on to the next topic. There are a few black people I don't like but I would certainly be wrong to say all blacks are stupid, lazy drug addicts based on those few people. Even though there are a lot of black people that would fit that description it is still unfair, because there a lot of white people that fit that too. Like the movie Jesus Camp, you are looking for the bad and finding it with Christians is what I am saying. Hold the individual accountable for what they do, not the rest of the group. And yes I think a lot of the people in Jesus Camp are whacky but I wouldn't say that respresnts all Chrisitians any more than saying the Sopranos represnts all Italians.

The workplace is for work ultimately - not a captive audience for conversion to your belief system.
I agree with that 100%. Many Chrisitians forget that and also forget that you will show others much more about your faith by the way you act and live than by what you preach. Even Jesus' words would have been meaningless if it were not for his actions.

OK so the liberals want my kids to know about oral sex, condoms and gay marriage before 10 but they can't handle the truth about abortion?
I am sure there are some self-righteous jerks in the pro-life movement but there is no shortage of folks like that on either side of any issue. The brush you paint with is quite broad. My problem with you beks is you refuse to believe that Anti-abortionist or anyone that has faith is coming from and honest place. I don't assume pro-choicers are cold blooded murders. I can understand how both sides have come to their conclusions, but understanding and agreeing are too different things.
