I am loud, obnoxious, brash and way too honest. Most Cops are the same and find me acceptable. The few slimy, sniveling, knieving dirty cops out there see me coming and stay away. They know messing with me will bring nothing but a big ol' spotlight on their crooked asses. I've dealt with my share of dirty cops you just got have a pair and treat them like they are the crook, they'll back on down.

The Power of Faith
by AllTimeJeff inthe power of faith (latest blog o' mine).
there is a big difference between looking at a picture of the empire state building and actually visiting it.
to have a friend tell you that it is great, that it is amazaing, awe inspiring and grand won't do it justice until you see it for yourself.. in a similar way, there is a big difference between having a healthy faith, and being told to have a healthy faith.. many who used to be jw's, as well as a fair number of christians, spend a lot of time on ex jw boards, looking to promote a simple thought.

Great post AlltimeJeff as always, but allow me to rebut to some of your words.
I agree that one should think for themselves. I feel very sorry for any one X-JW (like myself) or not that think being a part of a church means giving up the right to do so. I understand the feelings, I cringed for years at the thought of ever joining a church. But after a while I came to see the honesty in those wicked and imperfect people that are so quick to tell you about Jesus. You see, in real church no one makes you go out in field service or follow a strict code of conduct. The sermons are usually well researched and intelligent. I find most churches are full of people that recognize their human fraility and the need for God's love, guidance and salvation. Like our economics system if a church fails to assist it's members in finding that it will ultimately fail on its on as memebers are free to go somewhere else or not at all. Most churches are ok with you just showing up on Sunday throwing a dollar in the plate and keeping to yourself. This made me realize that those crazy people in Christendom weren't hypocrites but honest loving believers. No one was making them do anything more, what ever they did was out of love. Of course there are some exceptions, in people as well as whole churches. There were a couple that were obsessed with a single man or becoming super Christians and obtaining almost magical powers of healing and prophesying but I ran like hell from those. At the end of the day most churches were just a group of people that accept Christ and are there to love each other and God. It's so easy to be cynical and sneer at this but why should anyone with faith deny themselves the benefits of church because of what someone else says or thinks?
As far as whether to join a church or not, all me to give the analogy of marriage. I don't expect anyone getting out of a bad divorce to want to get married more than I'd expect anyone leaving the WT to want to join a church. I worked on my relationship with God for a good decade before I felt the need to worship with others in church. But when I felt it, I felt it like the urge to marry someone. It's probably impractical and unnecesarry but yet it is something you are moved to desire and find fulfilling because of who you have become. Overcoming the mental roadblocks wasn't easy, as I drank all of the same Watchtower poision everyone else did at the Kingdom Hall. I cringed at the Trininty, stared at the crosses and thought of false idols. But I didn't give up. I kept praying for God to remove any thing in my head keeping me from fully enjoying my brothers and sisters and worshipping him. I went to over a dozen churches and regularly attended about 4 of those. Each was a stepping stone to where I am now. That is why God allows for so many different churches. It might not be for you, but that church is there to bring someone else just an inch closer to serving God.

Have you forgiven your parents for bringing you up in the JW cult?
by Gayle ini had to sort through that for some years ago.
i concluded my parents were victims of the watchtower society too.
dad was a prisoner of war, under nazis at 19 yrs of age, almost died there due to no medicines or antibiotics and lost almost half his weight, his nerves were shot and he was drawn to the jws promise of a new world without war.

40 Years ago - The Moon Landing: The Part I Played in the Whole Thing
by Duncan in(i posted this a couple of weeks ago, but forgot to put a title - it sank without trace.
forgive the repeat).
there will be a lot of moon landing stuff in the press and media in the next couple of months - its 40 years since that first small step the anniversary is on july 20th.. so, like ive done in the past (for example this post regarding the transit of venus in 2004, which i posted 3 months early), i thought i would get my 40th anniversary post in before anyone else.. this is it, then: the apollo moon landing- the part i played in the whole thing.

These men lie, do not be decieved. The Moon landing was faked! Jeehoobah would never allow a man on the moon as it is a rest stop for his trip from Alpha Centuri. (See former JW doctrine)

The WT would be wise to exploit this once in a millenium opportunity. If Bro. Prince dies refusing a blood tranfusion he can become the new Messiah. They could publish a Watchtower article saying the end will not come till Bro. Prince (who we found out was annoited) takes the Axe of the Holiness and defeats Satan in an epic guitar battle in the clouds. They could then have the psychic Jon Edwards re-write the bible in a druken stupor. After which they can spin ancient prophies orginally written about events that happend 3,000 years ago into applying to current times. Come on the WT can milk this for another 400 years if they milk this right. Jehoobah knew he'd turn into the saviour that's why he named him Prince!
**Response to post below me: Ofcourse.. That is why Prince changes his name, the symbol really meant "Michael". **

If only Brutha Prince would have come to know Jehovah earlier he could have been spaired from all of this. He would have learned that all of that hump, and bumping and meaningless fornicating was really him bringing on God's Jehovah's judgment of old man worn out hips on this soul as punishment. I guess the sisters have one more thing to look forward to in the new system: Prince with some fresh hips! Watchout!

Calling off Your Wedding Engagement
by shamus100 inin judgerutherfords thread (welcome, btw), he made mention on how he called off his engagement with his girlfriend.
i was always told that calling off your engagement was a big deal, and highly frowned upon in the org.
was this true in your part of the world, or was this just a local thing?.

Do you want your publisher cards? Do you need a congregation "secretary" to request them? I can do it
by BonaFide ini think someone else mentioned this before, but i am interested in providing some practical help to those on this board.
many of you have helped me, and i see a lot of good will on here.. some here seem to need to move to another congregation to "fade.
" or they might be in a judicial situation.. can i help?

Bonafide, don't get too worked up. I don't think anyone meant any harm there are some unique personalities on here, mine included. I think AllTimeJeff sums it up pretty good in the previous post. Personally, I believe you are who you say you are and I think you had the best intentions. I pulled a fade just like what you mentioned dearly a decade ago and I never got so much a phone call. I moved from out of state with my family and my card was sent with theirs. I knew if I ever showed up at the new hall to introduce myself I was toast. I never went and just moved out and never was DA's or DF'd. I am postive my card is lost or at the bottom of a pile where no one would know who I am as my family has moved to another state again.
