I recently got hired finally, by a small Pest Control company. Well on my first day I rode along with a guy to train and he strikes up a convo about him and his wife being Christians. He asked me if I go to church and I tell him about my background as a former Witness. Surprises me, when he tells me that his father is a JW and he was raised in the borg until he was 16. He said that his parents had split and he lived with his mom shortly after. She then started taking him to church. Great for him LOL, since he never got baptized and has lived a normal life. Well.....fast forward to today, when I was talking to the co-owner after getting some supplies for work. He asked me about customer service for the job and if I felt comfortable talking to people. I told him that I had no problem, since I've done sales for a short time, worked at a hotel dealing with guests, and (with tongue in cheek) I am a former Jehovah's Witness. As soon as I said that....his eyes lit up! He started asking a BUNCH of questions about my status as a JW. I started to worry if he was one, because he asked me if I was inactive. A Oh shit moment. I was thinking I screwed up with too much info. Well....WHAT A SIGH OF RELIEF when he told me that HIS wife was a JW and that he had stop going to meetings himself. He said that his wife had pressured him to go for a few years and he couldn't do it anymore. She was raised a JW and married him after she left the borg for a while. She went back to the borg after her sister had died and she became "really spiritual". Fortunately for him, he wasn't baptized and he could still have a good relationship with his wife. He said that he didn't believe in a lot of things that the JW did. I told him about some of things that made me stop going. I mentioned the Conti case and this website. He was surprised and seem eager to know more. I'll give a update in a little while

"The END is soooooo close"
by Phizzy ini notice reported in a number of posts that this seems to a bit of a mantra with the dubbies now, more so than ever in the past.. is this because they are getting desperate for the life they live as jw's to change ?
they don't really want to end their days with the constant drudgery of the jw life still going on, they want something different, but must "wait on jehovah".
sigh.. i wonder if this is a small opportunity for us to sow some small, niggling doubt, why not ask, when they spew out the "it is soooo close" nonsense:.

"The reason is that He does not want to face reality. That is why JW die-hards persecute any doubters. To leave doubters and faders alone would be tantamout to accepting that they could have a point. That rabbit-hole is just too painful for some to venture down. That's why you must be a ridiculer! There is no other alternative! To admit that theyhave been duped their whole life is not something that most have the inner strength to face. " DATA-DOG
This sums up the reality that JWs are faced with. The Truth or the TTAT is just TOO painful to realize. It's like knowing that there is the ordinary "Wizard" behind the curtain, but being to scared to expose him because of not facing the fact of being soo gullible to believe in the first place. Soo many ExJW have opened their eyes and felt the pain of being duped for soo long. The JW who stay in are just too weak to face the TTAT. So they will defend their beliefs at ALL cost. It's like a group of people who invested their life savings in a business who's product is really faultly. Critics of the product continually make known of the ineffectiveness of the product, but the investors deny it and slander the criticizers. The Investors believe that the money and time invested in the business CAN'T be all in vain! Their product is good! Most JW don't want to know the TTAT. It would TEAR THEIR WORLD APART.

Why we have Conspiracy Theorists......
by cantleave ineveryone knows a conspiracy theorist (let's face it we have a few on this board).
my attention has been to drawn to an article in the new york times, which i have pasted below.
apparently people with propensity to create conspiracy theory narratives are quite sane, even though they may have low self worth and cannot fully ascertain their place in the world.

Metatron, BU2B, WTWizard, and chapstick all make good points about Conspiracy theorists. While I don't believe EVERY Conspiracy out there.....there are quite a few that deserves some investigation and some that straight having you questioning the event like 9/11 and recently Benghazi. TOO many skeptics want to immediately trash the theories and it's endorsers. Just like what the WT does to "apostates". The information presented can't be objectively looked at after the endorsers have been attacked as "mentally ill". I've come to face the fact that you can't trust people in high power period. You can take things at face value but know there is POSSIBLY something else behind what's seen. WHY SHOULD EX-JW TRUST THE GOVERNMENT AFTER FINDING THAT GB HAD LIED TO THEM? Who are the worse of the 2 evils? Men with power and a need to exercise it at ALL cost!

Your worst convention experience.

My WORST Convo experience was at the International Convention in Long Beach 2003. Like always, My congregation had to help with parking. Waking up at 6am, assisting with the parking for a influx of visitors and assigned congos was a big pain in the ass. The program would start a little after 9 and we were out in the blazing sun in the middle of summer till 10 parking cars. Since parking attendants were there early we would get a chance to get seats. But.....since there was SOOOOOO many people there for THIS Convention, the seat I had saved for myself ended being takened. I didn't even bother to look for it since there was a lot of people standing up at the balcony railings because of no seats. I HATED those Conventions and the STUPID parking arrangements!

How long does it take to get reinstated ?
by Pitchess Co-Gen ini was think about getting reinstated, and then do a fade right after because of family ties..

Pitchess, In the words of this one brother I used to know. "You might just about be through". If that makes any sense LOL. You might be through with faking a reinstatement. Like what the other posters have been saying about it ALL depends on what the local elders decide. They'll take in account your past dealings with the other body of elders but ultimately it's up to them. Might be 3 months, 6 months, or even a year. If you can get your Denzel on.....good luck.
Once(or if you get) back in..... a little of that and get out like a out of hell

by cedars inhttp://jwsurvey.org/governing-body-2/new-light-watchtower-magazine-leaked-from-organization-weeks-ahead-of-general-release.
if doctrinal explanations are missing from the article, it is because they are also missing from the magazine.. i would like to give my thanks again to my source for supplying me with the magazine article weeks ahead of its scheduled release.
it showed remarkable courage, because risks were taken.

New magazine cover from the religion that calls former believers "mentally diseased"....
by cedars inapparently "prejudice" applies only to racial equality and has nothing to do with diverse sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
it's news to me, but that's the only way i can explain this latest cover from the society.. http://download.jw.org/files/media_magazines/86/wp_e_20130601.pdf.
