Suicide Prevention
by ApagaLaLuz ini just wanted to drop a quick note.
last thursday a good friend of mine jumped off of a freeway overpass and killed herself.
ironically it was the same overpass that just 5 years before i had stood atop and climbed the fence with similar thoughts in my head when my family had initially disowned me.

I going to picket my parents convention this weekend!
by Atilla inok, my parents have pissed me off so much with their denial and their refusal to even acknowledge my complaints against the borg.
they pretend everything is perfect at the kingdom hall and expect me to play nice to their dub friends so as to protect their own reputation.
this weekend in philadelphia, they are going to to their little convention and i have some evil thoughts.

Just wanted to add that I think this is genius:
There's a reason why you're told not to read this sign. Find it out at www.randytv.com
By the way, Barbara Anderson says "Hi".

If that's what you need to do to get some closure and move on than go for it. But make sure you're clear on your intentions. Do you think these actions will help in drawing your family closer to you or pushing them away? I understand your anger, it's easy to be angry. Sometimes it takes alot just to swallow our pride and be the bigger person. Will it really do more good than harm?
Hugs to you ((((atilla)))) I sure hope your family comes around one of these days. I know with my parents that they will NEVER change so it's pointless for me to try. I've simply learned to accept that and deal with it.

If any of you are having any desperate thoughts please please please talk to somebody about it. If you worry no one will listen, tell them what your intentions are, trust me they'll listen.
And please take some time out of each day just to let those around you know you appreciate them.

In All Honesty, Are You A Happier Person Now Than when You Were A JW?
by minimus injws say, "the apostates are miserable!!
".....do you feel miserable?
(i don't).
-
ApagaLaLuz
Really i have never met a happy jw, i mean really happy
No kidding, seems they have soooo many problems. I think they do it all to themselves to prove their persecution.
As for me I keep waiting for the time when I end up in the gutter begging to be taken back. Hasnt happened yet, but I suppose I shouldnt jinx myself.
Am I a happier person now as oppose to then? *does my little happy dance*

Go figure on this one aye:
You're Mexico! While some people think you're poor and maybe a little corrupt, you know where it's at, enjoying good food and nice beaches. You like to take things a little slower than those around you, and you really wish the air were cleaner, but sometimes compromises must be made. For some reason, Chevrolet keeps trying to sell you Novas as well, even though they don't really go.

BAPTIZED WITTNESS W/QUESTIONS
by tresbella ini am a 20 year old baptized wittness who for the past year has been trying to do some serious reserach on all the things i have been made to believe in the wt society.it only makes sense that my research should not only include those in the wt publications and so therefore i need some help:
1. what is everyone's thoughts on society not allowing brothers to wear beards?
i read somewhere that russel(society's first prez) had a beard and the second pres( russel) wanted to completely dissassosiate anything having to do with russel and so therefore outlawed against them.

lol! Tres, you sound exactly like me. The beard issue sounds like such a minial issue, but it got the ball rolling for me. The bible clearly states that a man was NOT to cut the hair on his face. Ironically in the same batch of verses that says to abstain from blood. In certain countries with colder climates such ast Russia and Poland, the brothers are indeed allowed to wear beards. The scriptures also say that women should not braid their hair or wear pearls. Again this is an example of them picking and choosing what they want to inforce and ignore according to the society only.
Beware I was slightly younger than you when I began research on the teachings. When the Elders got word that I was using literature outside of the organization I was quickly counseled. Here is a post I posted earlier today that hopefully can you a bit.
Oh gosh it was a few years ago. Just going from memory though:
I was bringing my King James Bible to meetings for a while and kept pretty extensive notes regarding inconsistancies between the KJ and NWT bibles. That was one thing I asked them to address.
I also asked them to show me how to come up with the year 1914 using only the bible and no study aids. I also addressed issues such as facial hair. And why dating and marrying a "worldly" person was so stricly inforced if it was only a priciple and not a law that was set forth in the bible.
I also asked them why they choose to inforce this principle when other principles such as not braiding your hair or wearing pearls were also specifically mentioned. I asked them why in the same chapter abstaining from blood, is mentioned and also only eating what the Jews call Kosher foods are mentioned together yet they ignore that.
I also asked for an explination of Matt 24:34 regarding the signs of the times and the change of the definition of "generation". The list goes on and on.
The one that really seemed to piss them off was when I asked them about Charles Russell. I explained that if he was such an important figure in founding the Jehovah's Witnesses and organizing "God's Only Chosen People" in our day and age, to show me in the bible a prophecy of him. They could NEVER give me a valid response as to HOW he was divinely inspired to create their organization
Also, might want to check out the links section of this board for alot of helpful research

Been asked to sing at a wedding
by Nosferatu inokay, i can just picture me dressed up in drag, singing "do you really want to hurt me", lol!.
but seriously, my buddy is getting married sept 5, and he and his fiance have asked me if me & my wife would sing at his wedding.
seems like the cd we gave out at the wedding is creating some opportunities (one of my dad's friends bought a copy of the cd).

Do it! Do it! Do it! Obviously you're talented if your friend listened to your CD and asked you to sing. I agree, what an honor. :)
