Well Damnit Corvin, now ya did it! I'm not sure if it was the accompaning music or the words of the speaker, but I was pretty choked up. I wish I had the guts to send this to my mom. She says they dont wish the deaths of billions of innocent people.
Bravo!! Well done

What grammatical errors bug you the most?
by poppers infor me it's the use of : .
it's as a possessive - it's means "it is", so if you don't want to say "it is" don't use the apostrophe.
there are others that bug me but this one is the worst.

None of them....life is to short to worry about petty stuff like that.
Ha! I agree with Xena. I'm probably one of the worst offenders. I know the difference between to and too and your and you're. I just get so excited sometimes and carried away with my typing, I make plenty of what I would consider typing errors. For instance, I constantly type teh instead of the. I know it annoys some people; some have actually made comments to me about it. I think if you know what I mean, then why split hairs dissecting everyone's grammar. Then I kindly remind them I actually am a published magazine writer, so it's not that I'm dumb, just lazy.

is the world mostly evil?
by zen nudist injws and others get their energy from a perception that the world is mostly evil and needs to be wiped out and started over.. i read a book long ago which put forth the following propostion:.
the news is mostly bad because the world is mostly good.. consider, news being the unusual, the out of the ordinary... the book went on to say if the news were mostly good.
we were really screwed....but as long as serial killers, wars, murders, and most forms of violence were shocking, it meant that the world was basically good.. overlooked in the yearly murder stats is that less than 1% commit murders... seeing that 99% are bascially average janes and joes going about their lives trying to eek out a living for their families is not very news worthy, but signficant.

Blondie!! I picked the same quote as you to share. I was raised in a terribly paranoid home, where everyone was out to rob me, beat me up, rape me, kill me. I have learned that despite everything most people ARE good at heart. And I cant even begin to tell how completely beautiful this world and the people in it are. Yes evil exists. Yes people can be evil, or misguided. But I strongly believe that most people have a natural instinct to do good. Call me dumb and happy, call me overly naive. I can not let myself focus on the evils that do exist in the world. Instead I focus on the good and tend to see mostly that.

Branda Leonora Janna
Hey Country Woman, you and I share a name :)
When I was in school in I always wanted a normal name and sometimes I'd tell people my name was Lisa, just because it was normal and easy to say. My first name is Jana and people forever get it wrong now, I hear Jenny, Jenna, Jane, Juana, everything but my actual name which is pronounce Jan-ah though my parents and a few friends I grew up with still call me Yawn-ah, which was the original pronounciation but I change dit when I started school. And as for my last name, well that one is far to complicated, and no one ever gets it right. I always just tell them, if they say it fast enough I dont even pay attention. I prefer it that way now though :) I love unique names, it gives a better sense of individuality.

Anyone else like comedian Stephen Wright?
by Makena1 insteven wright, very low key, monotone delivery, but one of my favs.
his mind sees things differently than we do - for example:.
i woke up one morning and all of my stuff had been stolen...and replaced by exact duplicates.

Stephen Wright is hysterical. 2 of my favorites are:
"you know those pajamas with the feet in them? I just had the feet" and
"you know how in the movies when someone reads a letter written by someone else and they read it in their head in the voice of the person that wrote it? That kills me"
Thanks for shring those

Hot Saucing your children
by desib77 into me this seems cruel.
after my divorce i heard from a friend that my ex-husband's new wife was doing this to his son to stop him from telling lies.
i was very upset about it especially since he had learned to lie from his father.. i think it is mean, what do you think about it?.
-
ApagaLaLuz
The gal that played Blair on The Facts of Life, recently came out and said that she hot sauces her kids. I do think it's cruel. I've never once had to implicate such drastic measures on Spencer. He's 7 and used a dirty word 3 times in his life, and caught hell from me, verbally about it, and he hasnt used them since. I think it's sick

What book are you reading now?
by ozziepost infrom time to time we like to share some good reads with each other on jwd, and now might be a good time to share with you what i'm reading this week.
it's "the gate" by francois bizot which tells of his experiences as the only western prisoner to survive the khmer rouge in cambodia.
in 1971, on a routine outing through the cambodian countryside, the young french ethnologist francois bizot is captured by the khmer rouge.
