what september 11th taught me.
i woke to a normal day and thought nothing was going to be any different then the rest of the year.
i took a shower, got ready for work and then decided to watch a little television to waste some time before leaving.
This was so beautifully put.
Many times I have gotten pictures back from Disneyland, or the beach, or any place there was a crowd. I've analyzed the people in the background. The ones who seem to be looking at you, but you didn't see them. I wondered who they were. I wondered how many times have I been the person in the background of other's Disneyland pictures?
This is a wonderful analogy. September 11th taught me to pay attention people

sorry if this has been done to death, i only did a quick scan and didn't see a topic like this, so i appologize in advance if this was started someplace else.. this morning i woke up and thought about where i was last year, and the complete shock i felt at this same time last year...and i was just wondering if any of you had those same feelings this morning.. so where were you?
i always find stories of what people were doing at the time they heard to be really interesting-please share if you'd like.
I had been working evenings and was sleeping in that morning. My cell phone kept going off. Finally after about the 5th call I gave up and got out of bed. I checked my messages and the first one was my friend saying "Please call me! I want to know where all my friends are! America is being attacked." My roomate was out of town in San Francisco. I was home by myself. I turned on the t.v. at the exact moment the second plane hit. I started crying.
I called my mom. She said Armageddon had started and I should start praying. I went to my ex boyfriend's house and watched it on t.v. with his family. I went to work that evening.
one week later my sister and I went to the L.A. County fair. We went to the 99 cent story and bought tons of candles. At about 6:45 pm we walked around the fair passing out candles to people. At 7:00 we held a vigil while waiting in line for the Pat Benetar concert. It looked beautiful with all these people standing there holding candles.
i was once counselled by the elders for watching 'knots landing'....it became widely known in the congregation that me and a few other sisters would rush home from field service to watch our favourite soapie.
if we missed it, we would ring each other up for an update...or...if we weren't near a tv we would ask someone to put the phone handset on the top of their tv so we could hear it...pathetic huh...but that was all the excitement we could scrounge up in our otherwise dull and uneventful lives.
one of the elder's wive's conscience got the better of her...and she confessed to her husband..lol.

Hey PLMKRZY I'm sure we have crossed paths. They started the Foothil cong in 1995 and I went there till 1999. I also atended all their memorials.
My family was a big part of the Ontario cong when you went there. I don't mind giving names.
My aunt and uncle were Bill and Babe Amlung. My parents are Ed and Shirlee, though my dad was DF'd during that time. A few other big families in that hall were the Parkers, the Varjus, the Baughers, the Bairds, the Hendrix, and Carters, the Falls, and Lackees.
Also my uncle was PO for a Pomona congregation during your time. My Aunt and Uncle are Sharon and Adolph Gomez. They would have had 3 small boys named Jordan, Carlo, and Mario. The boys are now grown and married.
And I work 1 block away from the Chino hall on Walnut.
Do you remember any particular names form the Foothill Congregation?

"Another one I really thing is hilarious now is the time they were trying to convince me that one of my friends was a bad influence because he had a goatee and tatoos. They showed me the scripture that says you're not supposed to get tatoos. What they left out was the scripture right before that one that says don't shave your beard. Assholes."

And since I helped the DJ with skits I would be on-air almost everynight I opened myself up to bad association. They felt a joke that was made about Thigh-Masters was inappropriate, and I was privately reproved

i've only now become aware of the existence of one firpo carr, apparently a liberal jw apologist with several dissenting views and an afro-american jw grievance agenda.
do any of you know where he stands and how he's regarded by jws?
is he a sort of black greg stafford?
Firpo grew up in my hall. I didn't know him personally, I was too young. But his mother and my mother are very close. I'm sure I'm going to get raked over the coals for this one, but Firpo is a crock.
"Doctor Firpo Carr" is a sham. His fake PHD. He's been trying to stand up and be a leader for years where no leader is needed. He claims to be a very active JW. the JWs do not take him seriously and view him as an Apostate. Although that has never been officially decided.
