The real big thing for me was reading George Orwells '1984'
I can't tell you how many times I've read online that '1984' was influential in someone leaving. I remember the first time I read it, the parallels were so close. It stayed in the back of my head for a few years, untill I left and I read it again, my eyes were clearly opened.

Nice Melons at assemblies....
by fleaman uk ingrowing up in the 70,s and 80,s i remember at the dc in twickenham ,london ,the 1 item of food that was always liked by us kids was a slice of melon!!
i think they were about 4 tickets each (??
)...i must have been very easily pleased because that was a rare highlight... (i never liked the drama much even as a kid).. i dont have too many bad memories of the religion, but i think that even little things like doing away with food at conventions made me question what the hell i was doing in it.

Ha! I dont know much about the melons at Twickenham, but that damn golden cow always made me think of the picture in the Bible Story book when the Isrealites were standing around it waiting for Moses to come back down the mountain.

Even in the darkest hours
by heyfea ini've recently found out that a jw friend of mine has cancer.
she knows i don't go to the meetings anymore, but she's cool about it.
i wanted to speak to her, to let her know how concerned i am, that to me she still my friend and that i want to help in any way i can.

Hey Hey! :)
Please remember that death is probably something very strong on his mind. People tend to get even more spiritually minded in that situation. He probably takes it as 'remaining faithful and setting a witness'. I'm sure it wasnt his deliberate intention to be insensitive. I'm also pretty sure he did appreciate your call.

A special message for everyone who was young in1969....
by Elsewhere inif you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things?
.all evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years?
as a young person you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.
