does anybody remember which scripture it is in the greek scriptures (i want to say it was of paul's writings) that the jw's used as a reason that women had no privileges that a man could have in the congregation?
i remember doing research on it for a return visit.
basically the jist of it is that because of eve's sin, all women are inferior.

Anyways, I had an awful time with this last night. I mean, can we pick and choose which parts of the Bible we like?? I have a problem with this. Was it Paul that said the women are a large army? Maybe not. Who said God is not partial? Maybe it was towards men.
Anyways, Paul is not my favorite Bible writer anymore. He basically said women are there to make babies.
Can I say I am still a Christian if I disagree with Paul's writings?
so i just went to the store, and got a few items.
salmon steak, artichokes, potatoes, grapes, peaches, and goat cheese.
the lady behind me (who was on one of those hoverounds) asked me what the little package was, i told her goat cheese.

Jadeen: That is a good point here that you stated on how it appears to be what Paul wants, not what God requires. I guess this whole concept irks me because I had to explain to a body of elders personal things that went on in my house. They could no relate. All that they could do was assume that I was not a proper wife.
I have been to a few churches now, and what strikes me is how women are allowed to have a say. They are allowed to exhort others, conduct theip own Bible study session groups, and teach children. To me that is more in line with the way Timothy's mother and grandmother raised him. But if you were to ask Paul, they were still dirt.

if householders already have the book, publishers may offer any 192-page book published prior to 1992. translation: "we have too many old books, help us get rid of them".
UGH!! I could never maintain enough enthusiasm in the books to finish reading it myself. I was never a good one to place that crap publication with householders.
And why 192 pages? Did they prattle aimlessly until they filled all 192 pages?? Did all of these books have to fit the criteria of "Must fit into 192 pages?"

i did it since i was a kid.
i used to spend two hours every saturday morning from 7 to 9 am walking down the street near my house with my brother or sister.
I did street witnessing when I was about 16 in a small mining town that was full of bars and drunks. Not fun.
i was in service one day and the sister i was working with said," i will start to enjoy life once the new system comes".
sirens went off in my head.
basically, she was saying she was miserable but would wait till the new system to have any happiness.
That must mean behind all men is a more powerful woman, right??
all things jw and xjw and even xxjw are beginning to bore me.
tonight, in an effort to stimulate my interest, i cruised back thru threads of the past month or so.
while i found a couple topics of mild interest, and a couple more in which i found it worth effort to make personal comment, i was mostly bored.. i have come to grips with my past religious history.
choosinglife: That is an ironic statement that you post about how we all went to different kingdom halls together. Remember how we would hear how people all over the world were discussing the same Watchtower? Or we would hear how 24 hours a day, 365 days a year jehovah's name was being sanctified literally day and night? Yet here we are, all together, with circumstances that have drawn us to a different light, as we all search for a path that we do not know.
And I do see the point about being an addict. I have been here six weeks, and have 170+ posts. That is like four posts a day. I need a hobby.
