  Cotton wool for beards....

  does anyone remember the jw video "the organisation behind the name"?

  i remember in there they showed illistrations being set up, photos being taken of it so that artists could paint the illistrations.

  somthing that puzzled me was a clip of one of the actors in the illistrations having cotton wool stuck on to his face as a pretend beard... this is a guy... why didn't they just tell him not to shave for a while?.

  Are humans programmed to belive in god?

  this is somthing the gb likes to assert.

  but they ignore the many atheists in the world as they do so.

  i have been coming more and more to terms with the fact that i don't blieve there is a god out there, gradually i am accepting this..

  a non jw once said to me on this subject , that we are mearly programmed to belive things, for instance we have always been taught that a chair is for sitting on, but what if what we have always been taught is wrong? what if a chair is actauly a table?... her arguement would have worked if she hadn't picked such a bad illistration

  Do you belive in the stars?

  since leaving i've started reading my horescope when ever i happen to see one, i don't belive it, i just do it because it was somthing i was always taught as bad and now i am free to do .

  does anyone here pay attention to it?.

  are they the "happy" people?

  the gb is fond of saying that jw's are happy, often showing a picture of a posing/smiling dub to prove the point.

  however tell me, do you see loads of smiling faces at the hall, assembly hall and ministry?

  i don't remember that i did, and the only time they really smile... is for the soveniuer photo... to show just how happy they were.

  why give them quail and then kill em for eating it?

  this is always a passage in the bible that puzzeled me, the isrealites wanted meat, so god gave them quail and then killed them for eating it!?!?!.

  if there is an explanation i certainly never heard it from the wtbs!??.

  i might also point out that when i listened to the bible drama recordings of this passage as a child, it sounded like the narrator was saying "whale" not " quail"!

  ok heres another thing that always worried and puzzled me... moses made great sacrifices to lead the isrealites and endured great hardship to do so... but he makes one mistake and suddenly all that counts for nothing and he gets no rewards for his pains at all!????!.

  this has never seemed fair to me.

  basicly what is seems to be saying is that you can lead a exemplary life at great cost to your self, but if you make one mistake... thats it youv'e blown it!.

  What did you look like as a JW?

  i was going through some old photos today, i found one of myself when i was a devout jw.

  it was really shocking!

  i'm so thin, my cheeks are hollow, i'm as white as the wall behind me, i'm standing hunched over, and in my eyes you can see real misery.

I'm so thin, my cheeks are hollow, i'm as white as the wall behind me, i'm standing hunched over, and in my eyes you can see real misery. In stark contrast to how i look now, confident, healthy and tanned.
