Scan needed, the Forty-Two (42) fundamental beliefs

the following quotations are from the kingdom ministry, december 1983. the announcement is about a "brochure to be featured in congregation book study".. as announced in the october issue of ourkingdomministry, congregation book studies for the weeks of january 1 through february 5, 1984, will be conducted in the brochure jehovah'switnessesinthetwentiethcentury (1979 revised edition).

.... the study for the week of february 5 has been set aside for considering page 13, dealing with "what jehovah's witnesses believe.

" forty-two fundamental beliefs are listed along with supporting scripture texts.. i can't find reference to the "forty-two fundamental beliefs " nor this brochure on my wt library on cd.

I did an analysis of my reaction to this list (by the way I made it 43 ?) and it is interesting to me to see how much I have changed since leaving,just over a year ago.

I did 3 columns, no. 1 where I would not disagree with the belief, even the JW view of that belief, no. 2 where I would agree with the statement but not the JW view of the belief, and no.3 column where I TOTALLY disagreed.

In the 1st column I scored 16, the 2nd 15, and 3rd 12.

This was done quickly, and maybe not all 16 should be in the first column, but I think it illustrates my feeling that as I said to a Dub the other day:

"Every doctrine that they have, that is unique to them, IS WRONG ! "

What Do You Guys Think?

i've been df'd for 21 years, and other than the heartbreak of my mom shunning me and the sad stories i read here, i never thought the dirty rat bastard wb&ts could otherwise effect my life.

well, i was wrong!

my dear stepdaughter recently learned that her children's paternal grandfather has parents and siblings who are jws, some of whom were at my stepdaughter's baby shower this past saturday.

As JW's as an organization do not take Child Protection seriously , they only care about the WTB$'s reputation, I would alert the parents to all the dangers, whether you know of a paedophile in their midst or not is not relevant, the danger is very real.

There are a number still associated, and in "good standing " at present, who are just a time bomb.

Also the danger of being sucked (and suckered) into the Cult is real.

I commented about apostates today at the meeting

i couldn't help myself.

it was so obnoxious what the paragraph was saying about apostates.. so i said that having a difference of opinion is not a problem but really as brought out by thessolonians it is when a person raises themselves up above god to have people follow them instead of god that they are considered bad in god's eyes.. i don't even know if it had anything to do with the question, but i just wanted to say that, lol..

Yes very well said ,both times,your comment at the Meeting and the one above,succinctly and accurately put.

Please do be careful when the shepherding visit takes place , do not give them a way to "discipline " you, I am sure you are well equipped to deal with the Elders, but I found it useful to research on here for advice before my last visit (a year ago?) and because of that I answered in such away they could do nothing, they left empty handed.

Do you ever shed the Jw experience?

i have been out for 5 years.

my wife and i left together.

she saw the sham long before i did - though neither of us could 'put our finger on' what was wrong until we read coc, found the internet, etc.. i believe my wife leans toward atheism more than i do - i consider myself agnostic of the whole matter at this point.

I cannot shed my JW experience, I was in for 58 of my 59 years!

But I have shed the mind control. I do not fear death, armageddon, what Elders may do, etc. etc

I really do not give a flying ****. I do not believe that the WT has ever had the truth, or been used by God.

I can read the Bible with an open mind,and see for the first time what it is saying , not that I understand a lot of it, but I will continue to try.

The only thing I cannot leave at present is this site ! I have had trouble getting logged on, and have opened this new a/c just so I can read and post, but one day the need for this will fade.

why do you think child molester was so calm in my presence?

in answer to the last comment on my previous topic, i decided to approach him at his work so there would be witnesses (in case he got aggressive , which i know he can be ) i needed some form of closure as he never actually went to prison for what he did to my daughter but other victims "minor" charges that he admitted to (he had no choice but to admit to them as his wife already knew about 2 of them and the elders knew about 1 )but untill i had reported him to the police after my daughters disclosure nobody had ever reported him before , had they done so my child would not have been raped and much worse !

any way considering he has told everyone that i got my daughter to make up stories about him that has got him a prison sentence and put on the sex offenders registar for life he was very calm when i appeared with no notice and even greeted me by my name , he tried to convince me my child made it all up and it was "all in her head" bla bla which you would think would make me want to hit him but i felt detached as though it was not really happening , i had waited years for that moment and didnt want to blow it by being violent and perhaps arrested , i told him what i thought of him very calmly and he even admitted something to me that he had denied to the police ,and the reason why my childs charges were dropped !

his answer to me about the way he had led his life was that he is an imperfect man with sinful desires !!!!!!!

I don't wish to offend,but I believe "The Bible Student" is un-hinged.I hope he or she is not sending stuff out that will dis-credit legitimate efforts.
