Here in France, the "goody nights" after book study was never allowed, even back in the days, 10 or so years ago when I was a JW. The once or twice our book study group did this, we were told that Book Study is like any other meeting, it should be treated as such. As we don't have tea and cookies at the Kingdom Hall after meetings, so no tea and cookies after book study. Maybe it was the stuck up elders in France who wrote to the WTS in Brooklyn to complain about it happening in other countries that started the ban (I'm just guessing). I was also a JW in Hawaii for years, where they love to have gatherings and get togethers all the time (it's their Aloha spirit.) This news is going to come down hard upon them. I hope many will leave because of this, I really loved my Hawaiian JW friends.

Sept.15th WT - WT Society uses Guilt & Fear to Avoid Friendship & Internet
by flipper inonce again my wife and i were sent the " witness only " wt version by our lurking jw friend that they study at wt study meetings.
and once again wt society is showing very controlling tendencies towards it's jw members.. do any of you remember the " old days " in the 1970's or early 1980's when witnesses used to have goody night after book study ?
or you would have a " potluck picnic " with about 30 to 40 people getting to know one another to draw close as friends outside the confines of the kingdom hall ?

How many of you were baptised at a young age?
by lepermessiah inone thing this site has made me reflect on the baptism practice in jw land.. many of us were raised in the religion, thus you were given the pressure early on to shoot for baptism as a goal.. i remember feeling bad because i waited until the ripe old age of 14 to take the plunge.. looking back, i realize that when i was 14, i didnt even know what my favorite color was, let alone have enough knowledge to make a life altering decision.
yet, growing up in that climate, i would say anyone who waited past their early teens to get baptised was viewed with great suspicion and was likely to be viewed as "bad association".
kids who took the dip at 8-9 years of age were viewed as "wise beyond their years" and the like.. how old were some of you when you were baptised, and what are your feelings on the matter?.

I was baptized at 14. You cannot drive, get married, vote or buy a beer when you're 14. Baptism should not be allowed at that young of age either. But the WTS accepts this because all they care about is the numbers. They criticize the Catholic church for baptizing babies. Well, at 14, you're still a baby.

Most people who are not JW's live with out moral restrain! All who have left the "Truth" regret it. June 15th WT
by life is to short inin the june 15th wt it says on page 9 i will just write it out as it is to hard and unbelievable to preface this.
so here it is.. "many who today are members of the christian congregation can tell you that before learning of and adopting jehovah's righteous standards, they lived without moral restrain.
yet, they were unsatisfied and unhappy.

When you read Facebook rants of many JWs, they are convinced ex-JWs are angry and hateful and are leading sad and unproductive lives. What a laugh!

How many of you knew about the"Jesus is not your Mediator" teaching when you were JWs??
by Lady Liberty inhi everyone.... just curious how many of you knew when you were active, about the societys official teaching regarding jesus the mediator.
i was floored to find in my research, that they teach jesus is the mediator for the 144,000 only.
and it is only by our association with them that we might have salvation.. i don't know about you guys but i was blown away when i learned they taught this.

My husband knew about it and questioned this about 20 years ago by sending a letter to the WT Brooklyn Branch office. When the elders found out that he had the "nerve" and the "gall" to even question anything, he was put on public reproof and his "privileges" were taken away from him (he could not read at the book study or Watchtower study, and could not give prayers at the meetings). One of the (many) things which made him open his eyes and helped us to leave the organization.

Hi
I was 30 years a j-w , i became one in Israel in 1974 i left in 2006. Remember Joseph of Arimatea and Nicodeme from Jesus time , they where also in your situation as well as thousands j-w in our days . I work here in France with an governemmental ex-cults association, we meet many witness in your situation we never put any pressure or guilt on them , far from it we try to encourage them . for my part i try to reoriente them if they really want to what really the Bible present as the "truth " . I discoverd that the "Truth" is not a religion but a personnal relation with Jesus Christ , John 14:6 "I am the Way,the Truth and the Life" (read chapter 14 for yourself). Any mature christian should not judge you in anyway. My advise is :make sur that what you teach is from the Bible taking the texts with the bakround , this is the "key" comprehend the Bible. God love you, we to as well , may His Holy Spirit guide you . Robert my E-mail adress: [email protected]

The open book on the table is supposed to make you think they were right in the middle of serious bible studying, and were interrupted to take this picture. Aren't they zealous!
