Question about your spouse or ex
by bluecanary ini've noticed we have a few male posters here with wives who are still in the jws.
and i can think of one female poster (cognac) with a husband in the jws (although things are looking up for her).
of course we have a few spouses that came out together.. is it me, or does it seem like the women here are more likely to have divorced their jw husband--even before leaving--whereas the men are more likely to stay with their wives?

Whoa, whoa, whoa, VIII--is your mom tossing money in the streets? Because I'd like to cash in on this.
Seriously, if anyone thinks money has become worthless, I encourage them to dump it on me.

jwfacts, it's a good thing there is a statute of limitations on the sins of elders and MS. What is it, three years? No one finds out, you can consider yourself forgiven.

Why do you come to this site?
by sinis inafter all the years i have been here, i have slowly progressed to the point that the bible, god, and all the other religious stuff out there is just plain bullshit!!!
yet when i first came here and was told by some of the members that that is what i would logically come to, i did not believe them, and yet they were right.
i realize that a lot of people on this board have left, or are struggling with themselves or family to leave, yet many still believe.

Guess I should answer my own question. I started the divorce when we were both JWs but became convinced they were not the true religion during the process.

I think it says something about the "headship arrangement" that men feel comfortable staying with their wives in spite of religious differences, but women, even when they're both JWs, too often have to get a divorce from abusive JW men.
Here's an informal poll: what's your marital/JW situation?

You can almost smell the decaying bodies of Armegeddon
No, no. I just forgot to take the trash out. Is it vultures we're supposed to be worried about or fruit flies? Because I might be in trouble . . . .

When my mother and I left about a year and a half ago, we were very secure in our decision. But she kept pestering me to look on the interwebs and see if other people had experiences similar to ours. I finally got bored enough to do it and ended up here. It's definitely been worthwhile for me.
In regards to giving up on religion over time, sometimes the opposite happens. There is at least one poster here who wanted nothing to do with God or religion but became a firm Christian. I think the important element is choosing your own path. Whether you're born into a certain religion or born without one, you feel more complete when you make your own decision later in life. The decision itself is unique to the individual, but the feeling of satisfaction in the choice is the same.
