Does anyone think that maybe we're just wrong?
by paul from cleveland ini was disfellowshipped in 1995. even though i lost my friends and family, i felt like i had been finally set free and was happy for many years.
while i was a jehovah's witness, i always felt so miserable.
i never felt like i was doing enough to please jehovah.

kids in the hall
by rockmehardplace inno, not the comedy.
i see alot of parents at the kingdom halls - and more than one that i have been to - that pass their children off to other people in the kh all the time.
are the children supposed to be with the parents and not with other people?

My ex-husband's sister (not a JW) had a baby. Grandma would always take the baby to the meetings. The kid was always sequestered behind Grandma and uncles, never taken around to see people like he so badly wanted. When he grows up he's going to be just like the rest of the family. Paranoid and fearful of anyone he's not related to. I think it's good for the kids to spend time with other people, as long as it's people the parents KNOW they can trust, rather than just trusting them because they're JWs.

Bethelites and Athletes - are they the same?
by babygirl30 inforgive me if i sound completely cynical - but i have always wondered what the big deal with was brothers who are living at bethel!
i have known sisters that would give their right arm to be around them, snag one, and/or be able to say she is 'dating' a bethelite - as if that's the greatest thing in the world.
jw's from all over the world come to 'visit' them and they receive clothing, trips, food, boarding - all for free!

An astute comparison, babygirl. I used to think bethelites must be the most amazingly spiritual men in the world. Of course, I didn't know any. It's been a very eye opening experience to come here and read some of the life stories on freeminds and see what really goes on.

MY BROTHER-IN-LAW HAS DIED
by Mary inthis is one post i had always hoped i would never have to do, but after a long and brave battle, my beloved brother in law has died.
i have done a couple of threads on this in the past, so many of you know the battles he was facing.
he had been diagnosed earlier this year with myelodysplastic syndrome and the mortality rate of this disease is quite high.

November is national novel writing month, NaNoWriMo for short. The idea is to write 50,000 words within that month. I successfully completed the challenge in 2006 and ended up with a fantasy satire novel I'm quite proud of. This will be the second time I tackle the challenge.
You're not supposed to start the actual writing until November, but you can start planning in October; making notes, character templates, charting your plot, etc.
A few people actually write a salable novel this way. Many more achieve the satisfaction of getting their inner novel out on paper when they were unable to do so without the crazy deadline. There's a great book that goes along with it. No Plot, No Problem! Your library may have it. There's also a writing kit. November is a tough month for novelists because Thanksgiving can be so hectic. You folks that aren't participating in the holiday would have an edge in writing time.
Anyone want to belt out a novel next month?

Pondering the Flood...
by 2pink inthis is only my second thread here on this forum, so forgive me if i put this on the wrong board.. i'm a jw on the way out....past few years and esp past few months of thinking have pretty much sealed the deal for me.
i'm done.. so anyway, as i allow myself to think more and more and question more and more of the bible, something i have always wondered about is the flood.
did god regret doing that, hence the rainbow promise??
