Lars,
"They don't know the messiah arrived in 1992."
I'm sorry to have to tell you this but the Messiah arrived in the first century. You're 2000 years too late!
i have been meaning to bring this up for a long time.. sometimes, i think we (former jw's) who are very rightly concerned about all the lies of the governing body have some great ideas about how to expose jehovah's witnesses.. some of us have very passionate and distinct ideas.
not a few of us have websites with our own personalities evident.. i don't wish this to get personal.
even if i disagree with some presentations or rhetoric of some, i know that it is sincere.

Outlaw,
When most JWs come to boards like this they run the other way. If it were a more moderate board they might stay longer. But as I said I don't think that's ever going to happen.

There is way too much negativity about JWs on exJW forums. Not all is dark and dank in the JW world. The Witnesses know this. If exJWs were more moderate in their views about JWs they would disarm the Governing Body. But I doubt that will ever happen on this or any exJW forum.

mine does.
goes way out of her way to stir up trouble, conflict, and manipulate the former and non-dub relatives into not having a nice holiday.
goes to extremes to do so, and is at it again, right on cue..
Some do but many do not.
while many jehovah's witnesses have been treated badly by the watchtower organization, many have had good experiences during their time as witnesses.
for several years starting in the 70s, the brooklyn home had a kind of "talent night," in this case it included an interview.
you think these are "grumbling apostates" who never enjoyed their time in the organization, watch and find out.. dan bell, a bethelite, told barb that "no one ever gets to see these "family nights" outside of bethel and gave barb a copy of this one on a vhs tape as a personal gift for them to share with others.
Wherever Lance is, I wish him well.
after i decided/resolved to return to meetings several months ago, after being away on and off for several years; i can honestly say that i feel far more settled and comfortable in attending meetings again.. i struggled to attend before, having been reproved, then moving to a different congregation which i didnt find to be overly freindly.
it was only after i was reproved that i began to see all the past history of the soc iety(via internet) and the many things that simply stumbled me.
3 times i tried to return to meetings and three times i fell away.
Hi TE,
Thank you for a beautiful post. I hope you find peace. Yknot's question was so on the mark: "So would you say that the JWs are your tradition (fellowship, routine, culture..... etc) rather than your faith (ie Christ is your mediator, son of God)?"
For those who remain non-Trinitarians the effort to find a religious "fellowship, routine, culture" is difficult. Returning to the JW meetings is not an easy thing though but if it brings you peace then I wish all peace and all comfort in the spirit of God and that you may find ways to give your brothers what we all sorely need, love and friendship. Jesus walked about with friends and enemies. He gave comfort to his friends and reproof to his enemies. Those who return to the JWs cannot give direct reproof to their enemies without being put out but they can give comfort to their friends. It is that effort, giving comfort to their friends, that makes the return worthwhile. And in so doing they also indirectly reprove their enemies who have taught the friends that those who leave are apostates and no longer love Jehovah. This of course is a lie.
Jehovah's blessing on you!
may you have peace!.
i have been directed by the holy spirit to bring something to your attention and ask you with regard to it:.
matthew 17:1-13 gives an account of the transfiguration of my lord, when he was seen with elijah and moses... which was witnessed by peter, james, and john.
"I am to ask you: IF the Holy Spirit guided and directed BOTH men, if BOTH men were indeed "borne along" by that SAME Spirit... how is it that they did not state the SAME period of time. Did not the SAME Holy Spirit know EXACTLY how many days passed between the two occurences? Why would the SAME Spirit give one man one time frame... and another a different time frame. Isn't such an indication of either uncertainty... or indecisiveness... on the part of the Spirit? If so... HOW CAN THAT BE? If not... how do YOU explain the difference... in light of YOUR belief that there is only ONE Holy Spirit... which Spirit is part of ONE God... which God also includes the Christ."
The holy spirit does not make mistakes. If Matthew uses 6 days and Luke 8 days there is a good reason for it. I'm surprised you do not know this.
Luke reports on events he has knowledge of from the sources available to him at the time. Matthew is a prophetic book not an actual history of events as they occurred in the first century. Matthew's account is much more spiritual and prophetic than Luke's thus the differences between them. When you find differences between Matthew and Luke seek out the spiritual reasons for the differences not the physical.
Peace to you.
i wanted to post this as we have so many new ones on the board here - i thought they might benefit from some uplifting words from steve hassan's book " releasing the bonds " .
many newly exiting the jw 's feel lost , like they don't know what to do , or where to turn, what causes that ?
notice these quotes from steve hassan .. on pg.
Beautiful thoughts.
I've added that book to my reading list.
Thank you, Flipper!
barbara wanted me to ost this information about her discussion at a seminar which was held in europe first, then chicago just a week or two ago.
you'll find this link interesting.
all comments welcome.
The blood ban kills thousands of JWs every year? How do you know this Barbara?
