I understand what you're saying but honestly the numbers are cooked anyway and so what if I'm counted in the number. Numbers mean nothing, it's what goes on in the JW community and families that will bring trouble to the Watchtower. I'm not the only one at a convention who wonders how many of the conscience class or secret "apostates" may be sitting in my section, the GB is probably wondering as well. The more the GB raises the heat in the Watchtower oven because of the apostates among them the easier it is for more JWs to see the true nature of the Organization. Look, they could start checking badges at conventions and let enter only JWs on approved JW publisher lists and even then they would still have apostates sitting among them! lol

Those who can keep their family intact until they are able to get as many out as they can are doing what they believe is best for them and their loved ones. As I tried to point on out, Ray Franz witnessed the wrongs for himself but he did not disassociate right away (and when he was on the GB disassociated ones were not shunned, so the loss of friends and family was not that much of a concern as it is today). He stayed on his terms and he had no children to worry about. Many here have children and grandchildren and want to remain a support and a wall for them as long as they can and give a spiritual nudge now and then...and why not?!!!!

I appreciate your thoughts, thank you. It is a mean spirited religion, it's just that to live without a beloved child or beloved spouse is, for some, not to live at all.

This thread is only to point out an option, one which Ray Franz himself took.

May I ask? Are you disassociated or disfellowshipped? If so, has your family also left the Organization? Is your family intact today? If so, how did you accomplish this?

Skeeter1, yes every man is different. But for those who have children and spouses in the Watchtower there is much to lose. I'm so happy you escaped before having to make those kinds of decisions.

Yes, it is very frustrating but the reward of keeping our family intact and to get them out on our terms and not the Organization's is so important!

I salute your efforts! Keep your family with you and you with them. When we do the Governing Body loses every time!

I feel terrible for those who have lost their families. After reading COC, and after the shock of it, many of us hurried to leave and hurried to get our families out only to find ourselves on the outs with our loved ones. But is that the best or only option? If so then many will lose their families.

For those who are now reading COC and for those lurking, please consider this; Ray Franz did not immediately leave when he knew the Society was doing wrong or when he disagreed with them. In fact, even after being put out of Bethel he continued attending meetings to the point that the local elders in the congregation he was attending were considering making him an elder! Consider this; he knew first hand what we only read about and yet he did not disassociate!

Today many JWs who read his books disassociate or inform their spouses of what they've learned. Then, their whole world comes apart and for what? To stand on principle? Ray did not for some years. And he did not have children and a spouse still in, did he. COC is so moving and so revealing that our hearts impel us to stand on principle and leave but is that really the wise move? If we have family still in and if we want to keep our family intact why not consider that Ray did not leave immediately even though he experienced all the problems in the Org, for himself. He put other things first. So should we. If we can, we should put our families first and bide our time in order to help them out our way and avoid the Organizations playbook.

Think smart.

So I just got called a narcissist

my family knows that i post on this forum (they have a packet of print outs of topics i have started) and they know about my videos on youtube.. they have made a demand that i cease all internet communication with the apostate community and then they will have me back.. i have refused.. they say i am a narcissist because i am ignoring the feelings of my family because they are very hurt by the things i am doing on the internet and speaking out against the religion.. interesting since they had to search out my posts and videos to gather evidence of apostasy.. -sab.

Witnesses go door to door attempting to get people out of their religion and into the Witnesses. How do they do this? They relentlessly attack the beliefs and practices of the householders current religion in an effort to gain their membership. Those who post here are merely using their well honed skills in the Watchtower, skills we used to "kill" another Christian in order to revive him again and make him a JW only today it is the other way around. :)

What goes around comes around. Deal with it.

Your family are the ones in a religion that forces loved ones apart for only disagreeing with their religious leadership something the Apostle Paul did not do. They also in word and deed continue to support a system that requires people to die not on the basis of what the Bible says about blood but on what a group of men decide is "blood", a changing designation that has resulted in people dying for refusing a banned fraction of blood in the past but today would have lived because the Watchtower leadership changes like the wind.

You are not a narcissist, you are following reason, common sense and even, like or not, imitating the teachings of the Christ. Love our brother, not shun him, not kill him with forced changing doctrine and allow him the dignity of his own mind and heart.

Jesus said the truth will set us free. Those who have truth, who claim to teach the truth Christ taught, set people free they do not bind them with rules and oral laws as the Pharisees of Jesus' day did. If a Christian is not free he is not in a Christ loving religion.
