I'm still a JW and voted this year for the first time for the parliament in the Netherlands!! For the first time in my life.
I voted on the local railroad station (and looked behind my shoulders a few times!!!)

in today's watchtower study, towards the end, you had one of those typical comments by a former df'ed witness expressing appreciation for being shunned.
these comments always remind me of a stalinist show trial in which the accused enthusiastically accepts being executed for the greater good (probably to save his family).. after this kind of nonsense is expressed, you will get a flurry of self righteous comments emphasizing how important it is to shun your disfellowshipped relatives, so that they can come back in the "truth".. oh, really?
do any of these people raising their hand realize that, if the "success" of disfellowshipping depends on your shunning, then the "repentant" person is "coming back in the truth" for the sake of their relatives -and not because of fearing jehovah !!!???.
Lady Viola,
I did not mean that there are no DF's here, but in The Netherlands most of the family stay in contact with the DF-fellow.
I see it happen in the congregations and know also that the youth here is very liberal!

Anouny Mouse, a great posting. I was with my little children in the kitchen of the kingdomhall and heard everything from a safe distance.
It is all shit.
Many, many of the JW's in the Netherlands don't DF their family. We are here very liberal. We hate DF.
watchtower says: .
what is involved in avoiding false teachers?
... we also refuse to ... add our comments to their blogs.
Right!
reading the posts about the 2011-7-15 watchtower about mentally retarded apostates i foresee the following scenario:.
1. congregational elders trying to get grip on non regular publishers and inactive witnesses.. 2. the good ones read in the watchtower that apostates are to find in the local congregation.
3. inactives like me (i hate this name, but i use their language), and liberal witness like me, will be hunted, .

because they are mentally retarded.
THE WITCH HUNT BEGINS IN SEPTEMBER, when the magazine has been on the watchtower study.
the april 2011 pioneer action of 30 hours is a kind of 'separate the wheat from the chaff'.. think about it: 40 percent of our congregation is pioneering.
the other half of the congregation has something to explain.... i don't report hours for years.
although i'm not "too sensitive" it feels like "standing fully outside the group".

Maybe this feeling is a right perception of what I am, "standing fully outside the group".
But this "drifting apart" by this arrangement it is still confronting to me and opposite of Christian love.
is the current situation in japan the scenario that our watchtower leaders dream about?
i don't want to be a part of a religion that loves a big armageddon.
i can not believe that if there is a loving god, he wants to punish humans this way.

But I'm still a JW... A cynical believer who strongly condemns the doctrine of his long time family believe (4th generation). Summary: I don't believe anymore, but attends meetings for remaining the family structure...
"the one sacred book that thus from first to last declares its author to be jehovah god is the holy bible.

Friends,
A few years ago I found somewhere on the internet a picture with GB members meeting Cuban government peope (I think they were from the Cuban Central Comity or Polit Bureau).
For me the evidence that GB members are direct involved in political arrangments.
The GB members are the one in the WT organisation, who don't believe in God. They know it's all fake!
a roaring current of change..... what is going on at the world headquarters of jehovah's witnesses?
in the last couple of years unprecedented changes in policy, procedure, and doctrine have been coming forth in rapid fire sequence.
this uninterrupted episode of new information is beginning to backfire for the rank and file witnesses.
WontLeave,
You are in the same difficult situation as I am. I don't sing, dont pray, don't read but only listen on the meetings.
It makes me sad. But I still attend because of my family relations.
Today was a very sad meeting.
A childish explanation why we have to sit when the congregation sings. A disussion about the picture of the article. What boy is good, what boy is bad!
The rank-and-file is eating it like pancake with honey!
I feel - same like you - very alone. Alone. Alone.
And hope and pray my son and daughter (now baby's) will follow higher education and college instead of pionering (...)
I hate this religion but can not escape...

Kool-aid,
I have one answer to your questions / opinion.
The reason of all the fast changes within the watchtower world, is:
1. The WTS is very sensitive for juridical issues. It has many lawyers, and they are in charge.
2. The WTS is very sensitive for dollar issues. It has many financial experts, and they are in charge too.
3. The WTS is very keen in property transactions. It has many property managers, and they are in charge too.
4. The GB is not in charge, the lawyers, financial experts and property managers are.
5. The only thing the GB can do to keep in a bit control is: devide and rule.
