  yesterday evening a letter of the dutch (netherlands) branch of the watchtower society was read to the congregation.

  it stated that the governing body has made a new arrangement for circuit overseers worldwide: the society provides a lease car.

  it was backed with some bible texts (...) and the conclusion was that it was financial cheaper for the congregations.

  Yesterday evening a letter of the dutch (Netherlands) branch of the Watchtower Society was read to the congregation. It stated that the Governing Body has made a new arrangement for circuit overseers worldwide: the Society provides a lease car. It was backed with some bible texts (...) and the conclusion was that it was financial cheaper for the congregations. The Society will charge the congregation 7,5 euro for every publisher yearly, for our congregation it is yearly totally 750 euro. Everybody was very quiet. There was no voting resolution, it just happens...

  For the Netherlands: 30000 publishers x 7,5 euro = 225000 euro yearly.

  Somewhat different with the early christian community situations, they (and Jesus!) used donkeys.

  Why I Like the "Proclaimers" Book

  while it is true that the "proclaimers" book is not always as open and honest about the society's history as it claims to be, it is open and honest enough to bring into question the society claim to being god's organization.

  it's a matter of (1) knowing what to look for, (2) where to find it and then, (3) to be able get the sense of what it means.. take for example the extremely important matter of the second coming of christ.... on the top of page 47 the book truthfully explains how president charles russell came to believe that jesus returned invisibly in 1874 to begin his second coming ("invisible presence").

  and then a careful reading of the footnote on page 133 shows that the date of jesus' return was not changed to 1914 until 1943.. it is likely that even if some witnesses notice that fact, they do not get the sense of what it means.

  The Proclaimers book is not so current anymore, since the introduction of the new DVD.

  When the DVD was presented at the convention last summer, the Bethel speaker told the audience "The need for this DVD was great, because Jehovah's Witnesses are not readers of thick (big volume) books."

  With these remarkable words he put the Proclaimers book to the sidelines of JW-history.

  I heard it with my own ears at the Utrecht convention in The Netherlands.

  Instead of "Do what you can" they chose for "Do the organizational arrangement that fits you the best way".

  Focusing on the organizational.

  The organization makes it possible that Jehovah is happy with you! Organization = Jehovah.

  WTS introduction video for new bethel workers - my perception of GB

  i just watched and downloaded the funny wts introduction video for new bethel workers from youtube.com.

  i watched it, and i had to laugh much.

  about the interviews with the gb members.

  Some you can not understand because their age. Great fun!

  And then came the great sadness. These GB members ruled about our lives. These simple people. With strange ideas and strange behavior for church leaders!

  And then came the understanding:

  These very old GB members can not be church leaders of a organization like the Watchtower Society.

  Making decisions about financial investments, buildings and property, strategy and long time decisions.

  That makes me think about one question: who are the real leaders of the WTS instead of the old puppets?

  this one is the most glib i've seen.. actually, several times "75" came up.

  maybe they feel the more they bring it up and make light of it, the more of a non-issue it will become..

  Around 1995 one of the most influencing CO's in the Netherlands (doing much mess up work for the Dutch branch in the congregations) made a nice slip of the tongue: when he did quote the famous Orwell publication he said to the audience of the convention: "In Orwell's well known book 1975 .... bla bla".

  The audience was reacting mumbling "He?!?".

  Great fun to hear, I was just waking up and raid some good opinions about 1975 and the Watchtower false teachings. The CO did also, I think

  Todays WT study illustration of Jesus doing away Capitol Hill and Obama - a statement of the WTS?

  i attended the todays wt study and got notice of the illustration of jesus doing away capitol hill and barack obama.. i think the illustration passed the juridical advisors of the wts, having a blackout!

  of are they trying to reach the anti government people like the tea party idiots with this kind of propaganda illustrations?.

  is this a signal that the wts is anti democrats, anti obama?.

  Thanks for your posts. I told my wife that I don't want to show the kids this Jesus picture. If you look good, it is really crazy that the brother's and sister's in the congregation don't stand up and say "This is not our Jesus".

  The WTS is propagandizing a angry Jesus, a Jesus of revenge.

  It's a part of the two different sides of the WTS corporation: a soft face to governments and organizations, a hard face to the members.

  This kind of illustrations are published to keep the rank and file witnesses scared. Don't defect, else you would be killed in Armageddon.

  This is not my Jesus!

  KM Jan 2011 Family Worship

  there is a big insert in the jan kingdom ministry about the family worship night (which has evolved new capital letters - like governing body.).

  some helpful suggestions include the head of the household putting an agenda on the fridge door a few days ahead for the family to "build excitement and anticipation" (i kid you not.

  ) the provision is compared to the sabbath arrangement as a gift from god.

  Here in the Netherlands no JW family does Family Worship. We do actually have Idols night and Dancing on the Ice night.

  And JWD evening!

  Only on Sunday and the other evening gathering in the hall we remember we are witnesses.

  The KM insert will not change this.
