did anyone else experience a nostalgic throwback to the 1990s when the latest watchtower announcements presented their demand for increased donations from congregations as a “simplified” arrangement?
5. adjustment to resolved congregation donations: in the past, the congregation was presented with multiple resolutions to donate funds to the branch office in support of vari- ous activities cared for by the organization.
this arrangement has been simplified.

the resolution is unanimously supported, no questions asked.
has anyone else had this happen?.

they don’t go to conventions .
they don’t go to assemblies.
they don’t go to meetings.
What I hear is they have virtual fieldservice meetings and simulate even the car ride to the field and then logging out because there is no real fieldservice.
How crazy they can be.

the final talk of the saturday afternoon online convention is given by lett, sporting a creepy looking combover, which for some reason, looks creepier than normal.
he talks about how those resurrected will need to come into line with a new moral code otherwise they will be destroyed.
he uses an example of gay people having to turn away from their inclinations even though they may feel that they are perfectly acceptable.. this demonstrates that the gb feel that being gay is a taught behaviour rather than an imperfect unnatural desire, otherwise they would be growing out of that desire as they develop towards perfection, as they teach.
A pretty mesh again then when resurections begins. 😆

i keep hearing all of the things about "essential" people in this convid-19 virus thing.. well, i woke up this morning, did my morning poop, and just felt like i am essential.
i walked around my house while my wife was still sleeping, did the alexa thing to hear the daily text.
it made me feel good.

in the early 1980s together with my brothers we decided to started collecting watchtower literature and have them neatly in a library at home.
with the help of our father he gave us all the books bought during the years that he had stored in a big wooden box.. after purchasing all the literature that we had missing from the kingdom hall we decided to write letters to the world headquarters of jehovah’s witnesses in brooklyn new york as well to the british and australian branch office.. unfortunately none of our requests bear fruit as they informed us: “it is doubtful whether they are available anywhere in the world….” (ca february 23, 1983); “unable to supply the old publications you request.” (sa: sg september 20, 1983) “we will keep your letter on our files….”(sa: sg january 22, 1983).. during the years we managed to obtain many of these early books going back to 1879 when this religious organization was started.. through barbara anderson we learned that in 30 columbia heights building new york they had a warehouse storage where they kept many old literature which don kommers the assistant of vern wisegarver was responsible for.
through these publications we learned what exactly was written by charles russell and joseph rutherford regarding predictions that never came to be.
I have 5 old wt books stored.
One of them is a 1917 birth day agenda book from the society.
I took it away from the kingdom hall and never returned it, because of the trow away actions.
They are just communists / socialists defining their own history again and again.

sometimes i forget how small-minded, petty, provincial, mean-spirited ignorant and judgemental it was and still is.... then i sit down with a jw relative, hoping to have a normal conversation and realize there is literally nothing to talk about.. nothing..... current events?
hobbies?
your job?
@TD can you imagine in a country like The Netherlands / Holland were most people don't believe anything, a neighbour's backyard is making a lot of noise about these subjects. Good for the neighbourhood gossip.

does anyone happen to have a copy of the awake for march 22, 1993. .
i'm especially interested in pages 3 and 4 of an article about false teachers..
In 1993 the Watchtower society was so much different.
I remember this Awake!

@Phizzy, you are right! It's a one way communication. They send. Others have to listen.
This was the first time that some family, visiting, didn't act like visitors. They act like my nice, park style backyard was a battleground for free speech.
So, new guest list the next summer 😆
I type this smiley, but i am still flabbergasted about it. It was so extreme and so loud, al these sect speech.
