drahcir yarrum,
That is a wild story to say the least. How long did you stay at Bethel after that?
Isis
i arrived at bethel in december of 1968 on a cold night.
i had the taxi drop me off at the old columbia heights building.
the door was locked so i knocked and was reluctantly allowed in by another bethelite.

just for fun of course.. i just posted on the top 10 movies to take on a desert island and it had me wonder.. anyways....as to my favorite:.
"there is no spoon.
I have to add another line I just thought of.
Jurassic Park
Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblume): "Yeah, but in Disney world, the pirates of the caribbean don't eat the people."
He said this right after John (the old guy who built the park) was trying to figure out went wrong and just compared his park to Disney world. Meanwhile, Ian Malcolm is sitting there almost bleeding to death with a huge gash in his leg.

there is a homeless man (ill call him pete) that stands on a street corner nearby my home.
hes been on this corner since i moved into this neighborhood almost 4 years ago.
a staple to our community really.
Billygoat,
I can see why you would wonder about this homeless guy. I personally don't give any money to beggers. I think most of them are con artists. You have to wonder, if this guy could get up everyday to make it to the same corner, why couldn't he get up each day to make it to a job. I'll tell you why, because it was much easier for him to take handouts instead of actually work for his money. It actually makes me a bit mad when I think about it. I get up and go to work every day and some "bum" on the corner wants me to give him my money! My thoughts: Get a job, anywhere, you can't tell me McDonalds wouldn't hire this guy - they will just about hire anyone.
Just my thoughts,

Hi Think41self, thanks for the welcome.
Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorites too. Of course, I can't think of any lines from it right now, other than the one you mentioned.
CordeDeVelour, Gattaca was the Best. (I love Jude Law :X )
I just thought of another great line I had to include:
Sean Connery to Harrison Ford in: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. "We named the dog Indiana."
I always thought that was hysterical!

It is so funny that you would say that. You are correct, it may not be just one "line" but it is a great quote. "American Beauty" is one of my Top 10 Desert Island picks.

Anyways....as to my favorite:
"There is no spoon." The Matrix.
I know the one I hate too - "Here's lookin' at you kid." Casablanca
I understand what he is saying, I just don't like the line. It just doesn't sound right.
Isis :)
to carry the island thing further, if you were stuck on an island what 10 movies would you have?.
1. superman.
2. airplane!.
This is such a great thread. It is so hard to choose only 10.
Here goes:
1. The Shawshank Redemption
2. Dogma
3. Demolition Man
4. Gone with the Wind
5. American Beauty
6. V (tv mini-series)
7. Alice in Wonderland
8. Raiders of the Lost Ark
9. Cruel Intentions
10. Flash Gordon
And these would have to be on DVD, definately. :)

forgive me if any of the following questions are too fundamental, i am curious how the illuminati would respond:.
1. if an individual provides personal dna and finances a personal clone, are both humans legally related?.
2. once cloned, are there any legal entitlements to the clone's wages, profits, inventions, etc?.
U.P.
You said:
"Once cloned, are there any legal entitlements to the clone's wages, profits, inventions, etc?"
I don't base this answer on anything scientific. But I would guess, no. I agree that the clone is no more than a "twin" of the original. That being said, people aren't entitled "legally" to their twin's wages, etc.
So I guess whether you would agree with me or not depends on if you see a clone as another "normal" human with rights like a twin or as a "pet".
Isis
P.S. All interesting questions though. :)
just for fun!!!.
excluding your spouse/significant other and children (they would be with you) who would you like to be stranded on a deserted island with?.
i think billy crystal and robin williams would have to top my list, i think they are 2 of the funniest men out there and i would definitely want to laugh.
;X
Harrison Ford
Definately.

call me a neopositivist, a semi-verificationist or semi-falsificationist, but the claims made by "silentlambs" reminds me of the shakespearean line that was quoted in the creator book published by the wtbts.
that is, the contentions of silentlambs seem like much "sound and fury" that in truth signify nothing.
i am of course referring to the supposed dateline show and the claims made about some members of the gb of jehovah's witnesses.
I just wanted to say thanks to all who wrote the encouraging comments. They do mean alot.
Thanks,
Isis
