Would a definite article prove that Jesus is God?
by solafide infrom what i've studied of jw's, john 1:1 is interpreted as "and the logos was (a) god".
therefore, because there is no definite article in john 1:1 for example, one supposedly cannot confirm that jesus is referred to as "the god".
so my question for the jw is "what if jesus were reffered to with a definite article in the nt"?

Witness theology is very much like Jewish Messianic theology of the 1st centuries BC and AD with a little Arius thrown in. Very Basic stuff.

Actually it does. It does no good to argue past somone's point of view by denying it. Witnesses did that in their Trinity Brochure by trying to describe that Belief as polytheism and modalism, both of which are wrong depictions. We shouldn't make the same mistake.

Their position is similar to the Bible Students in that they hold to a Perfect Human for Perfect Human equation- Adam/Second Adam.
So in their kenosis theory the Word had to proceed to the point of being the equivalent of Adam.

Witness theology is not that developed on the metaphysics or philosophical aspects of things like the nature and essence of the kenosis or divine beings. So in the instance of Jesus as the Word becoming human they simply leave it as life force without going into a theological dissection like the Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox and the two natures one nature controversies.
Their position is that the kenosis produced a wholly human and not a god/man human.

Witnesses do believe in a kenosis of the Son being transfered from heaven to earth and the womb of Mary. They refer to it as the 'life force' being transferred.
Agree with them or not, but we should depict their views accurately.

The above is not really accurate. Watchtower Christology does accept Jesus prehuman existence as being on a plane like God's or his nature is like God's. They will appeal to Heb.1;2,3.
For many years they distributed the Translation- An American Bible by Dr. Goodspeed which rendered John 1:1 as 'the Word was divine'.
Agree with them or not, but we should depict their beliefs as they hold them.

Inbetween,
Everyone here has given you pretty good advise, keep your guard up in discussing anything with a Servant.
They are instructed to turn your conversations in and from there begin formal hearings.
I was on both sides of that situation, as an Elder and as someone with questions and doubts.
Take care
