  How are Governing Body members chosen?

  since it wouldn't make sense for the society to choose "orginal" (i.e.

  pre-1935) annointed ones for the gb because they're so old now, how do they choose the new ones?

  couldn't a "newer" annointed simply declare himself to be one just so he could get on the body?

  The Governing Body has the same evidence of anyones anointing today, in 2001, as they had prior to 1935.

  The word of the one claiming to be such is all that can be provided. That is all. It has been that way since the days of Russell.

  "I am anointed" has been and still is the criteria for such claims!

  No one, no one, not even the Governing Body, has been able to provide proof of their anointing, proofs similar to those found in the first century! Only their word, gives them absolute power over the lives of so many!

  This is a crime! This is a travesty!

  This is why they keep changing their doctrine, something that Paul and the other Apostles did not do! A man's word is not enough, proofs from God MUST be provided, just as it was before!

  as of 6:02 pm last night i received a facsimile from paul hoeffel at the un on the wts.. he gave me 3 of the 4 things i requested in two paragraphs.. i have sent a scanned version to steve bates and someone else.. i sent it to kent and randy.

  and kent and randy have posted the official united nations letter on their web sites.. here is the letter - put your cursor on the image and then right click on your mouse and hit "save image" to your computer.. .

  after you look at kent's web site and you people still think this it is a fake letter, phone paul hoeffel yourself at (212) 963-8070.. hawk

  IMO, this overly emotional display was a dead giveaway to your "apostate" or "quasi apostate" status. A genuine, active JW would more likely be looking for clarification, your statements showed that you were well versed in the subject and that your mind was already made up.

  Also your use of the same name as your screen name was crazy, haven't we all been informed of the strong possibility that Brooklyn looks in on these sites?

  You have in reality made it more difficult for the letters or e-mails of others to be taken seriously. It must be obvious to them now, that xJWs are attempting to pose as JWs, and to say whatever it takes to sound like one, even to invoke the name of Jesus, in order to get this issue exposed. It's much better to be less deceptive. You have shot yourself in the foot!

  Is It Impossible for God to Lie?

  the bible says that "...it is impossible for god to lie.." (hebrews 6:18).

  however, if causing a person to believe something which is not the truth is a lie, then that is exactly what paul said god did:.

  and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the lord jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.

  I have today received the November 1, 2001 Watchtower with your life story.

  In my youth I was a member of the Bayshore Congregation, Long Island, New York.

  Many years ago as a teenager, I was out in service with Br.Clarence and Sr.Bea Beatty (not certain of spelling), on a sunny day on L.I. If you remember they were fleshly brother and sister, Br. Beatty, though elderly, married I believe, some time later.

  They took me along to visit your father who was ailing and near death. They went to visit him to provide encouragement during this hard time for him.

  What struck me was that there he was sick in bed, with visitors around him, yet HE was the one who endeavored to provide encouragement.

  He spoke with a firm voice and with conviction. He told us of the importance of reading the Watchtower, giving the advice to always start with the first article and read it through.

  This impressed me, very much. Here we were visiting him to help him, yet he tried to help us!

  I am no longer a JW but still, though I doubt you will ever read this, I just wanted to let you know that your father was a fine man.

  His picture on page 20, is extraordinary, I remember him, he though old when I knew him, had not changed that much.

  I remember my brothers and still love them.
