(the title of this thread is: Love for WBTS would not withstand "divination"! For some reason it did not show up the way I typed it in)
Most publishers would stick with the Society through almost anything:
U.N. debacle
Dateline
Harsh elders and COs
Prophetic failures
Endless organizational adjustments
Continual reminders to "do more"
The ad nauseam recycling of Russell, Rutherford, and F.W. Franz pics in the Watchtower publications (one of my personal pet peeves )
Etc., Etc., Etc.
BUT, what these same publishers would not put up with is the revelation that the Organization has tried their hand at "casting lots".
Accusations are worthless but absolute proof that the Organization has in the very recent past sanctioned a form of "casting of lots", would bring the house tumbling down.

"to the ends of the earth" is the title of a 1995 video made by the watchtower.
this video highlighting the gilead missionaries, their schooling and daily life at their assignment, is imo, the most beautiful video the society has ever made.
it is also their most dangerous!
Hi Cellomould,
Do you think that this video encourages people or gets them by their guilt?
Speaking for myself, when I was still under the "spell" of the Watchtower this video spoke out to my heart. I was not young in years as these young missionaries were, but I was young at heart, young spiritually.
I played it over and over because I felt about the Org. as they did, and I felt about service to God through the Org. as they did.
Now, I like to play the battle scene at the beginning of the movie "Gladiator".

i've seen it mentioned many times in many threads: "the society monitors jwd, don't post anything you don't want them to know etc.
i have even made that point myself in the past.. my question is this: does the wtbts monitor this discussion board?.
or have we all been propagating our own xjw urban myth?.
Quotes,
It seems possible that if they are monitoring, sooner or later one of those monitors will be exposed to too much and lose their faith and join us here at JWD as a full-fledged XJW,
I think you are giving this place too much credit. Many who lurk here do not "convert"! I would not have become an xJW at all had I come first to this DB as it is today (and as it has been in the last year) before reading COC.

"To The Ends Of The Earth" is the title of a 1995 video made by the Watchtower. This video highlighting the Gilead Missionaries, their schooling and daily life at their assignment, is IMO, the most beautiful video the Society has ever made.
It is also their most dangerous! What is presented to us is real brothers and sisters, sincere brothers and sisters, loving brothers and sisters. These young people who, for the love of God and their fellow man, are not only willing to give up everything but also put their lives in the hands of men they trust and go wherever they are sent, anywhere in the world. In the video these young people in effect shore up the Governing Body; their sincerity gives life to the lie.
In 1996 I had major surgery, during my recovery time at home this video provided such comfort to me. I played it over and over.
Today, I played it again. It truly is a beautiful video (excepting the part where GB members try to give a few words of their personal wisdom to the students), but now it is painful to watch. Painful because I know these young people are being led by a group of men who are not living in the present. Men whose every fiber of spiritual existence is rooted in perpetuating a system of beliefs that validates their position, authority and organizational history. Men who are willing to sacrifice the future on the altar of the past.
The young missionaries are being betrayed by the Governing Body as surely as Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot!

the society has encouraged its followers to honor god's name as expressed in the tetragrammaton.
appendix 1a of the watchtower's reference bible approves the use of the form "jehovah" because it preserves that all important tetragrammaton: .
"...the new world translation continues to use the form "jehovah" because of people's familiarity with it for centuries.
Hi Waiting,
But really, as "God's Only Channel to Mankind" - why tinker with God's personal name - which is the Tetragrammaton - no matter what language? The WTBTS obviously allows brothers to rot in jail for decades for God's name sake. Allow thousands of Malawi brothers to be raped, burned, beaten, killed for God's righteous name...........why does the WTBTS then not be consistent for God's name sake?
Well said! When my "little girls" were in elementary school I carefully followed the Watchtower's guidance. Their teachers knew we were JWs and at my request when holiday school activities came up my girls were given non-holiday school activities. When everybody in class was coloring a halloween pumpkin my daughter was coloring a "generic" fall scene; this is certainly a small thing but I bring it up as an example of how we were taught to be so very careful. Everything, everything was to be as perfect as we could make it, no worldly stuff for us!
Yet, the Society had no problems with accepting and then promulgating a form of God's name which in reality was deformed, not the true Tetragrammaton that we were told was so all important.
Always enjoy your comments.

) but i sure know that you made me sick!.
it was a very clever way of trying to get me 'off air' i guess, but, although it's cost me plenty, i'm still standing!.
for the sake of my friends here, i guess i was caught off-guard, and in that split moment i got caught with a savage virus in my computer that's infected all my data files.
Hi Ozzie,
Being attacked by members of the "collective"? Ah yes, the Borg's dendrites! Religious wars are dirty things, but a CHRISTIAN religious war is the mother of all demons. So much for following their Master, or maybe they are! Satan has many faces.
Sorry to hear about your trouble. Kick ass and get up again, the only way to fly!
And you did!!!!!!!!
Take Care,
Linda
we all grew up in the same environnment.
for as long as i can remember that environnment included the idea that men were not just fathers but also leaders.
they took the lead, women followed.
Hi Funkyderek,
Why do these stereotypes exist? Were they just made up to oppress women or is it just possible that the traditional view of the roles of men and women are grounded in reality. Just maybe, men are aggressive because our ancestors were hunters and warriors. Perhaps women are emotional because the primary role of our female ancestors was that of caregiver. As conscious, intelligent beings we can choose to usurp these traditional roles and become something other than the stereotype if we wish, but it's pointless at best, and potentially dangerous to deny what we are.
I was not saying we should change what we are. I was trying to say that both men and women have valuable contributions to make in ALL areas of life, including that of taking the lead.
I brought up the "emotion" issue because I think it is many times used to stigmatize women.

Old Hippie,
the Society did not invent the spelling in Spanish, as some here perhaps think, but they took the traditional spelling and pronounciation and used it, built on it, because it was known.
I agree with you. That was really my point. They accepted the traditional spelling, whether or not it included the complete four-letter Tetragrammaton, putting tradition before accuracy. It must be remembered that after 1931 the JW religion built itself on their claim of reverence for God's name and its sanctification.
It seems though, when it came to writing God's name, they easily accepted what the world accepted as good enough: an incomplete Tetragrammaton. They may have felt this was an unimportant detail, which is really laughable since JWs are taught that in their service to God, even seemingly unimportant details are important!
