According to some views, the flood changed everything so, there is no way to know for sure where Eden was.

what takes away salvation
by jhine ini am certain that the watchtower society is of the devil , they tell so many lies to cover up their false doctrines and satan is the father of all lies .
so logically somewhere in those false doctrines there is something that prevents the rank and file from receiving salvation as satan works so hard to keep them in "the truth " does anyone else agree with that statement ?
if so, what is it in their teaching that keeps them from the free gift of salvation that comes by the grace of god alone ?

If salvation is a free gift from God through the sacrifice of His Son then what takes away salvation would the rejection of this gift.

Does the Bible contradict itself?
by exwhyzee inour old jw friend who is about to shun us says, there's nothing in the bible that contradicts itself?.
.
can anyone think of certain scriptures that could prove otherwise?.
-
PSacramento
Actually, it is an undsiputed fact that the various books and letters in the bible were written by different writers, that is a given.
That WHO these writers were is subject of much discussion is also undebatable.
Even a JW well acknowledge that the bible is a collection of books and letters and NOT the work of only ONE writer.

Awe in Science
by PSacramento inhttp://biologos.org/blog/awe-in-science.
you must have experienced it, too - one is almost frightened in front of the simplicity and compactness of the interconnections that nature all of a sudden spreads before him and for which he was not in the least prepared.. werner heisenberg, in a letter to albert einstein1.
for many people, science invites awe and religion invites insight.

This was why I asked you not to play semantics with the word - "supernatural". It was such an obvious cop-out.
Agreed BUT that said, just because we view supernatural as "A", doesn't mean someone else views it as "A", they may view it as "B" or "C" or whatever.
Have you heard of these guys?
CHristians In Science
I mention them because they are in your "neck of the woods".

I would agree that the belief of the supernatural must be "shelved' as you put it, when one is discussing and observing the natural world.
There is no room for the supernatural hypothesis when observing the natural world.
One can argue that the super natural is just the natural world, yet discovered or explained BUT I don't think that view helps when dealing with the science and may actually hinder nowadays.

The truth about girls outperforming boys in schools?
by PSacramento inhttp://www.hookingupsmart.com/2013/01/10/politics-and-feminism/the-shameful-truth-about-our-treatment-of-boys/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=feed%3a+hookingupsmart+%28hooking+up+smart%29.
a new study of nearly 6,000 elementary school children has found that boys are discriminated against beginning in kindergarten.
christopher cornwell, an economics professor at the university of georgia, says that gender disparities in teacher grades start early and uniformly favor girls.. despite having higher scores on standardized tests, boys get lower grades than girls.

Personally, and I am probably bias on this but I think that grades should be based soely on how well one does in tests and class participation ( homework, projects and such), I don't think that behaviour should be a factor for grades.
If someone gets high 90's but is introverted, doesn't really pay that much attention, gets bored and is the class clown because of it, and gets a lower grade than someone who gets low 90's and is a "model student", that seems wrong to me.

Are you now ashamed of how gullible you were as a JW?
by biometrics innow that you realise how idiotic some of the jw beliefs are/were, do you feel ashamed of how gullible you were to believe them?.
if anything my past as an adult jw makes me understand how easily manipulated people are by the people and environment around them.
and that even intelligent people can be influenced beyond what is rational..

I think that for many of you guys there just wasn't the kind of information that you need as readily available then as you have it now.
That makes a huge difference.
It is easy to get caught up when someone comes to you and has all the answers to the questions, even questions you didn't know you had!
It is human nature to accept the answers of those that APPEAR to know more, especially when there is no reason to question "authrotiy".
But now that this is no longer the case, one hopes that you learned that most valuable of lessons
Don't go along and question everything, get the view from BOTH sides and from MULTIPLE sources !
Decide for yourself based on the evidence and not what you WANT or NEED it to say.
If the evidence is limited or even inconclusive, research more and be open to the fact that answer you want may not be the answer you will get.
ALso, be very aware of your latent preconcieved ideas about something and don't fall into the trap of going where the evidence leads you that you WANT it to lead.

So the scientist would have to "check his relgion" at the door to do his job in the best possible way, hence "benevolent hypocracy" ?
So that his preconceived notions that COULD effect how he viewes the end results, do NOT taint those results?

i've been waiting for someone to post this story.
five bullets almost weren't enough to save herself and her two children.

I don't really want to single out posters that wrote what seems to be something rather "cold".
Look, my point is that taking a human life is NOT something that one speaks of as if one is slapping a mosquito or giving a misceant a nice slap, know what I mean?
It is a messy, horrific ordeal that a sane person will live with for the rest of their lives, the consequence of hat action is a dead PERSON, someone that was someone's son or brother or father, someone that was alive and now is dead, someone whos blood and life was spilled by you/me, someome who will never have a chance to see his/her loved ones again or they him/her.
Yes, at times we may have no other choice, NONE whatso ever, BUT we will still live with that fact till the day we die.
Now, for some that might mean very little but I truly pity someone like that.
Others milage may vary of course.
