Spike,
To say that Jesus is not the source of the truth, but God is may be technically correct, but it does leave out that, as per John, ALL came into being THROUGH Jesus, and that includes the Truth.
how could god have always existed since it plainly says near the end of that verse before me there was no god formed?.
here is the quote from the nwt and i also looked it up on numerous other translations and they all used the word before.. .
isaiah 43:10. you are my witnesses, is the utterance of jehovah, even my servant whom i have chosen, in order that you may.

can anyone confirm what i read on another website that the aid to bible undertsanding, 1971 pages 884-885, admit that the term jehovah is a combination of yhwh and the words adonia and elohim and that scholars generally favour "yahweh" as the correct pronunciation?.
is this correct?.
.
Spike,
While I agree that pronunciation, in terms of how we say things, is irrelevant since we are not speaking hebrew ( or greek for that matter), it is important in regards to how the name was spelled and how the name wa spelled is vital to how it was pronunced.
From there we can hazard a translation, but to combine letters from two different "names" is sheer specualtion, especially since we know that Adonai and Elohim were used as subsittutes for pronuncing the Name and not used for "filling in the gaps".
Perhaps to just use "Jah" might be the way to go...

Possible-san,
All that Jesus is, God is and all that God is, Jesus is, to me, that doesn't make him God, it makes him One with God.
i don't feel i have to know the truth about how life started or where we're coming from etc, but can't help thinking abt it anyway now and then.
guess it's only natural.. right now i feel really clueless and that i have too little knowledge abt the darwin, big bang theory.... (i was always taught by the dubs that darwin questioned his own theory...but was it really so?)..
i have a close friend who's sure of the evolution but can really the complex and wonderful life and nature come abt by chance (even though he says it's not chance...).
Physic Parrot,
Yeah, it was a parody post towrds the end, but at the sametime it expressed my views.
We can't deny what science has provent o us, though we can still question what is theory, just like anythign else.
Evolution is a verifiable theory and as such we must find where its fits into God's scheme of things, we must also realize that Genesis is not to be take literally but must be interpretated base don what we know to be fact,
Of course, in the end it falls on Us to, one way or another, take our "leap of faith" in choosing which path to follow and how to follow it.

Diamondiiz,
The issue is that Jehovah is NOT a translation of YHWH, it is a translation of YHWH, Adonai and Elohim combined ( though some argue that it is only a combination of YHWH and Adonai), its not like Jesus whichis a translation of the greek name which is a translation of the hebrew Name, the fact is we don't know for sure how YHWH was spelled and pronounced and Jehovah was simple used because it was the most "popular" rendition.

Possible-san,
While I can't speak for anyone else, my view of Jesus "beinging" God is simply that all the God is, is manifest in Jesus, they are in perfect union, nothing is done by Jesus without God and nothing is done by God if not THROUGH Jesus, it has nothing to do with denying God or Jesus because you can't have one without the other.

God created life and it evolved.
Genesis is the story of the first human to "find" God.
Or, you can go with the teory that ALL THIS happend by chance of a big bang.
Hey, whatever floats your boat :)
i have read before that the wts is against the martial arts....i do not have a wts cd, so was wondering if there is any wts literature to support this?.
The only issue anyone can have with MA is that they promote violence, which in fact they do, to not admit that is not honest.
They promote violence in a positive ie: Protective way, but violence nevertheless.
Competitive MA promote victory over physical dominace of another person, not mush gray area there, but they alos SHOULD promote mutual respect and admiration.

Heaven,
Ray Franz was the person responsible for the info in regards to Jehovah in the Aid to bibel understanding (amongst other things), it makes sense that after he was disfellowshiped that there woudl be changes (removal) of his works for the WT that he had done over all those many years.

insearchoftruth,
Nah, its a fable, there have been some very good studies ovr the last few years and al that shaolin orgin stuff is a myth, certainly not verifiable.
Revolutionary may have hid in the temples and such, and some monks trained in MA to protect the temple, but that was a case of MA being introduced to religion, not a case of MA coming from a set religion, besides, the oldest MA were probably African or Greek and as such, PAGAN at best
LOL !!
