December 22 WT Study Christian Neutrals in the Last Days from WT November 1, 2002 Why should I Apologize ?
A Balanced View of the World
Who is in charge of it - Satan or Jehovah? Colossians 1:16-17 Acts 14:15-17
Does Jesus send believers in to the world or out of the world? John 17:18
Did Jesus himself associate with sinners? Matthew 9:10-13
What is a True Christian?
The term True Christian was coined in modern times by the WTS. Such a distinction cannot be found in the scriptures. For there to be true Christians, there must be false Christians. Can such a doctrine be supported by the scriptures? How does the bible describe a plain Christian?
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand. John 10:27-28 ASV
From my study, plain Christians are those who follow Christ.
In this article, true Christians:
p. 2 are ... no part of the world
p. 4 does not devote his life to some secular cause.
p. 11 are at peace with God and with one another
(Isaiah 54:13).If it is
inconceivable for them to take up arms against fellow Christians - or anyone else - what of these men of faith? Were they true Christians? Or plain men of faith? Why would the author commend these men?I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah; of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, waxed mighty in war, turned to flight armies of aliens. Hebrews 11:32-34 ASV
For what cause would a Christian be willing to give his life?
p. 14-15 Daniel and his compatriots risked their life for their faith. They would not bow down to any one but God.
p. 16-17 The Apostles risked their lives sharing the good news that Christ had died for all to be freed from their sin. (Mark 8:35)
A cause worth dying for gives life to others. Jesus gave his life so that many could gain it. He asks us to continue on with that worthy cause.
This is my commandment, that ye love one another, even as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do the things which I command you. No longer do I call you servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I heard from my Father, I have made known unto you. John 15:12-15
For what worthy cause does the WTS ask its sheep to lay down their lives?- Draft cards?
- UN membership?
- Blood transfusions?
- Christmas wreaths?
I use Quotes for bible references.

Not the study article, but.......
by ozziepost ina long-held teaching of the wts is that god allowed time after the fall of adam and eve to demonstrate to all creation the rightness of his rule.
this is again repeated in a current issue of the watchtower:
why did god not immediately destroy the first human couple along with satan, the invisible instigator of their rebellion?

Thanks for articulating, Ozzie, a fuzzy point on WTS theology. I think Yeru hit the nail on the head. Rulership, authority, sovereignty take priority over love in the society. Why did Jesus say he came? Was it to reestablish his sovereignty, or was it to:
And if any man hear my sayings, and keep them not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. John 12:46-47 ASV

Questions to ponder - Apostacy
by JoeSomebody ina couple questions came to mind as i read some posts.
i know many of you are not jw's any longer.
my definition is one that abandons the true worship of jehovah both in action and word, inside and outside the congregation.

Joe, how would you distinguish an apostate from a hypocrite, a wicked person, and a sinner?
I find the NWT uses the term apostate rather heavily. In the Hebrew scriptures many other translations use the term hypocrite. In the Greek scriptures, there are about six terms for wicked people and sinners, all with different meanings. Since these scriptures refer to people we should not associate with, I think it important that we make sure we are talking about the same thing.
Jesus came for sinners, associated with sinners, and ate with sinners. Have you researched beyond what is written in the Reasoning book, Joe?

Honest Opinion, Please
by Windchaser ini'm not very craftsy, but i have a thing about crocheting dishcloths.
it's a basket-weave design and i have mentioned in the past how it helps me to keep sane.
i have been suicidal lately and thought, why not send these dishcloths out to my friends and they will always have a little piece of me to be remembered by.

Yes, home made gifts are from the heart, and they are treasured. Me and the kids always made our own Christmas cards. Jesika, it is an awesome family tradition that my adult children still remember fondly. Family and friends BEGGED me not to take them off our Christmas list.
A little story. One year, I was very short at Christmas. My daughter got a home-made sock doll. Not exactly a cool gift in the eighties. My daughter, disappointed, put it away. Later, when she was a teenager, she thanked me. "You see, mom, any kid can get a Cabbage Patch doll. But I was the only one who had a doll that was made by my mother. There is not another one like it in the whole world." She still treasures the sock doll.

What did Jesus REALLY look like?
by RubyTuesday inwhat jesus looked like doesn't really matter to me... in a faith that is moved by his teachings and not his looks, however it doesn't stop to amaze me why organized religion has gone out of its way to make us think he was gorgeous.
the following scriptures plainly states that he was'nt even just "average" looking but maybe even deformed.maybe it is important what he looked like....important enough to put in the bible and important enough for man to twist it...no twist isn't the word...lie!
visage =the face, countenance, or look of a person or an animal; -- chiefly applied to the human face.
