From painful experience, don't point out the hypocrisy. Doing so may push her in to behaving the way she is "supposed" to. You want your natural woman around (who sounds like a lot of fun), not the cultist.

Not on JW.ORG : San Francisco court orders Catholic workers to attend Jehovah's Witness meeting. Will Jehovah's Witnesses now be ordered to Catholic Churches?
by Balaamsass2 incatholic workers ordered to attend jehovahs witness meetingseptember 8, 2014 by mary maria leave a comment.
san francisco, california in an interesting case of religious rights in the workplace, the 9th circuit court of appeals has ruled that employees of the san gabriel/pomona regional center must attend services from the kingdom hall of the jehovahs witnesses.
the protestant church is not exactly known for its ecumenical cooperation or respect for the catholic church which it often decries as being a supreme object over the whole earth that rhymes with the word lore.. at issue is a five year dispute brought on by catholic employees who care for a disabled man at the facility.

Or the patient can "tie in" by phone.
Or the orderlies can wait out in the lobby.
Or the orderlies can participate in the comment section of the meeting, especially if any odious comments are made about "Christendom".

It is obvious I have hit a nerve. I was projecting the consequences of your statements (God's non-interference for instance) and if that doesn't match your personal beliefs, then there's come dissonance in there somewhere.
PS "You don't think..." - you are not reading carefully, and you are projecting on to an imagined antagonist. I still believe in God.
I contribute to threads like this when apologists stop listening.

What drives good people to do evil things without blinking?
by EdenOne inplease read this short article and then think for a minute on how this apply to those amongst the jehovah's witnessses who enforce organizational policies that harm people (such as shunning, for example, but there are others, such as blood, rejection of higher education etc), and those who blindly comply with such pratices - both of them otherwise "nice, good people" in every other regards, and who apparently don't see anything wrong in doing something harmful, even evil, to their brethren.. what is this?
the "banality of evil", or, instead, because there's such a strong identification with a cause, people just accept they are doing the right thing simply because the authority that is regarded as legitimatly representing such cause has instructed them to do so?.
interesting thought - and this question too: if one ceases to see such "authority" as the legitimate agent of the cause, will that simple change cause the blind to finally become aware of the evil they've been enforcing / complying to?.

How much of our mind is our own?
by jgnat inmargaret singer, pioneer in the study of cults, chaired the alberta psychological association (apa) task force on deceptive and indirect methods of persuasion and control (dimpac) from 1983-1987. the final report of this task force was rejected by the apa, and has not been published.
the apa noted that the brief characterized the theory of brainwashing as not scientifically proven and lacking scientific and methodological rigor.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/apa_task_force_on_deceptive_and_indirect_methods_of_persuasion_and_control#reported_conclusions_of_the_dimpac_task_force.
the apa has since dismissed the use of the word "cult" and switched to the term "new religious movements".

Here's a talk about traffic jams where citizens could not explain their change in behavior. Even though the change was observable, measurable.

250,000 deaths, eh, drop in the bucket. It barely makes a blip in your preaching work. The senslessness of the deaths obviously was compelling to cofty. And apologists have not provided him a single solitary satisfying answer to his question.
But fine, preach on. You might even find an audience inured to the inconsistency of the message. Since God obviously does not concern himself with specific inconsistencies/deaths.
About "natural disasters are part of nature", which I agree. Your particular belief system demands however, that this is a God-created nature. A perfect God creating a flawed nature that sometimes comes crashing down on humanity with devastating effect. You absolve God from this flaw. Cofty doesn't.

James Brown, Zimbardo demonstrates very well that every one lives on a razor's edge of goodness. It takes very little to tip them over. This coincides with the bible description of evil.

Well, if you are trying to find purpose in a quarter million deaths, it has to be a pretty compelling one. Indeed I am trying to use a ruler, the ruler of logic. I have demonstrated that using suffering to increase compassion is unreliable and illogical. This makes the tsunami deaths purposeless.
My opinion is based on logic. My opinion has more weight.
Regarding Pinker's book, there's the authorship and then there are the many references he uses to bolster his case. I found his evidence to be compelling. It is worthwhile to look up all the references Pinker uses for his case.
