Paranoid Schizophrenia

this is an issue that i've had to look into due to the extreme paranoia of my mother.

it's getting ridiculous.

and it get's worse everytime she reads the publications.

Um, sorry, I have to disagree with this advice.

After a while a few weeks should suffice...take the recordings to the Elders of the KH she attends explain to them that you are concerned about her mental health and play the tapes to them...DO NOT LET THEM KEEP THE TAPE unless you made a copy.
Maybe this way they can help your mom???? Big question...but at least this way you will have recorded proof...in case your mom is mentally ill and needs medical assistance.

First of all, was the recording taken with her consent? Your word with some documented (not recorded) examples of her behavour should be all you need for a mental health professional.

Second, are the elders better trained in discerning "sin" or dealing with the mentally ill? Keep the elders out of it!

well, this will be the best birthday i have ever had.

i had lunch with my mom and she has never had sushi before and she loved it.

it was sooooooo funny watching her try to use chopsticks....... to no avail--lol.

the other day i was on the computer and i moved some files on jws into documents as i was in a hurry,didn't think anymore of it.. my grandsons came over who are jws and joined my son on the computer,my son went into documents and my grandsons saw the files and asked him why i had them, of course my son didn't know quite what to say and he didn't tell me until after they had gone home.

i am worried that they may tell their mum and dad what they saw.

if my son asks me why i have these files what should i say because i need to be careful.my family is everything to me especially my grandchildren.. qca1

Your career is not who u are?

for years i started a conversation with ......i am __xxx_____ and i am a salesman for__xxx____!!.

after being fired from a couple of jobs and while being unemployed i realized that i am much more than just a career person....many people get caught up in this.....many when they first meet you will ask, "what do you do" ?????.

i think all of us are much more than just a working stiff.

Whatever I am doing, I am going to have fun doing it. I had just as much fun in my cleaning lady days as I do now. Sometimes I put in too many hours because my work is just too darn interesting to walk away. A couple of years ago, our Deputy Minister impulsively sent out one of those upbeat career quotes, suggesting that bosses should treat their employees like volunteers. People should be regularly reminded of the valuable contribution they are making to the organization, rather than simply handed a paycheque. I understood her sentiment, and agreed with it. But boy, did it set off a firestorm! The staff were furious that our DM thought they should work for "free". The original message was lost in the furore. Some of the people I work with are miserable. They hate their job, yet fear uncertainty. They tell me they are trapped. Trapped animals and trapped people can be nasty and unpredictable. Trapped in their own mind, in my opinion. Hey, if you hate what you are doing 8 hours of your day, every day, risk a little uncertainty and try something else!

Does my career define who I am? No. Can people tell a lot about me by the way I approach my career and my life? Yes!

god's prophecies are never wrong, its just our interpretation, let's wait a while and when things are clearer we'll tell you in retrospect what the prophecy really was.

we never actually said that, it was the rank and file, they got over excited.

So true, Realist. And the WT hops on the bandwagon, distributing the message of fear. Also, these panic-messages reinforce their hope for an early Armageddon. Hence, their addiction to pseudo-science. (The Evils of Aluminum comes to mind.) Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me the society attracts more converts by repellance "The World is going to Hell, join us quick." rather than attraction "Come to Me, you who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest".

I was never duped by the JW prophecy mill, but I was a victim of this nugget:

...predicted that by 1992 all the world's reserves of ..... petroleum would be exhausted

Remember the panicked lineups at the gas pumps in the mid-seventies? Back then, I was an impressionable teenager on the debating club. I researched this very subject, and there was good reason for people to be concerned. The "scientific" data provided by the big oil companies confirmed the end of oil reserves. I didn't bother to get a driver's license. After all, by the time I was an adult, we would have switched back to horse-and-buggy anyways.

Nowadays, my daughter doesn't understand why I refuse to get excited about Global Warming or other media-driven panic messages. Perhaps that embarrassing episode in the seventies helped inoculate me to JW fear-mongering. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Thank you very much, Grits and Blondie. I am expecially proud (oops I mean humble) of posting this table in html format all by myself without wrecking anything. The section for the young ones is especially awful. If this study is painful, next week's will be excruciating. Blondie, I will need your encouragement to endure.
