i was wondering if you have a response when you present stuff about pedo, un, rutherford, etc, and a jw says, "well they are imperfect people.. the last respons i got was, only jesus was ever the perfect channel of god - which of course i agree.. but it's like if you ever bring up anything about anything, the stock response is, "we'll it's an imperfect organization.... your response???.
I am going to address the original question. I picked apart a recent non-apology apology in a WT magazine, and my fellow posters added their own great thoughts. Essentially, the FDS is supposed to be forgiven for past mistakes because their motive was pure. I took apart their basic reasoning in little peices, some of which have been mentioned here already. They can't have it both ways; either they are spokesmen for the pure, unadulterated TRUTH, or they are just like the rest of imperfect humanity they so roundly condemn. If indeed they are the sole spokesmen for Truth, then no one dare question them. It has been proven over and over, however, that that this Slave is prone to error. If they are like the rest of imperfect humanity, they have a great deal to answer for to be claiming to be something they are not. Even King David humbled himself when he was shown up to be wrong, wrong, wrong. I doubt the FDS would ever stoop so low. I mean, really, bending down to wash LABOURER's feet....
i have been research the topic of how christ died and have read many articles (most interesting of them was at the url http://www.freeminds.org/doctrine/cross.htm) which indicate that he died on a cross, so i contacted the wt and they told me to look at vine's expository dictionary of new testament words, and this is what i found.

The Watchtower could care less if they have the truth on the matter or not on what Jesus died, not that it matters one iota. They've already said way too much about it and can't change their stance on it without looking foolish, so like other of their false doctrines, they're going to stick with it for appearance's sake.So very true Megadude. Check to see how the WT apologists attacked Leoalia's work.

before i get into contention with anyone today i wanted to wish you all a wonderful day, week, month, and year.. after being pretty depressed this weekend, and into this morning i'm feeling better.
two things lay behind this; i went to mass this morning, which is almost always a pick-me-up; and i start instructing a new class today.. the depression was just as a result of dealing with my wife and her mental illness.
I am glad you are feeling better for the moment, but for goodness sake, watch out for yourself!

You can become clinically depressed while trying to deal with your wife. So, for goodness sake, take care of yourself!

I am another girl that plays chess, but more of the coffee shop variety. I won't waste brain space on memorizing openings. Once and a while I get sucked in to that one-two punch that mates the King in three (or something like that). It feels great, however, to beat a guy once in a while. They take it so hard.
I think chess players are better at strategizing in life. We can plan several moves in advance. We consider possible counter moves, and how they might be blocked. I can usually nudge my co-workers in the direction I want them to go, once I have them figured out. Please don't tell.
