Thanks, Neon Madman. You dredged up much better examples than I did.

Six million people mislead?
by ikhandi ini have done a little research since joining this board and honestly believe that jehovahs witnesses fit in the cult category.
however what i don't understand if this is not the so called true religion as most of you have expressed how do you figure six million were mislead into believing it is the only true religion?
i mean this is not like the heaven's gate cult or the infamous jonestown cult who had very little followers in comparison with jehovahs witnesses.

Convention Symposium: Dangers of The Internet
by SYN inhere is a brief outline i have prepared for the brothers (not brotherettes) who will be handling the symposium at our international conventions entitled "dangers of the internet : do not be misled by those naughty, naughty apostates":.
part one - getting to know the enemy's territory.
ever since alan turing developed his theory of the computational engine, things have been looking dark for all witnesses of jehover on the electronic information frontier.

Funny topic, but I am afraid your language is too clear. A good sheep would immediately discern the true meaning. This is not acceptable. The goal is to quibble and obfuscate, so that the unsuspecting reader integrates the ideas before the full import becomes clear. After all, the full glare of the sun hurts the eyes. That is why Jehovah invented sunglasses and indoor Kingdom Halls. Even better, introduce ever increasing light to the sheep gradually, starting in a darkened room with a pen flashlight on low batteries, flashed five times a week.

Everybody has great suggestions. Archangel - black olives??? what were you thinking???? Yuck.
About the MIL, she sounds like the interfering type. I had a brother in law who was severely offended that I was serving sphagetti at a pre-Christmas dinner, and offered to buy the turkey for me. I politely declined. It was my party, and I was going to do it my way.
But next year I did turkey.

WTT, it sounds like you are attracted to clean living. Most churches, and many secular organizations for that matter, espouse clean living. Check out your local health club if you doubt me. There is more to morality and integrity than clean living.
Can you honestly follow an organization which can be proven to be a false prophet, just because they promote clean living?

WT July 1, 2002 Jehovah's Glory Shines on His People paragraph 16
In the last verse of Isaiah 60, we read Jehovah's final promise in this chapter. He says to Zion: "The little one himself will become a thousand, and the small one a mighty nation. I myself, Jehovah, shall speed it up in its own time." (Isaiah 60:22) In our day, Jehovah has kept his word. When anointed Christians were restored to activity in 1919, they were few in number-truly, a "little one." Their number increased as additional spiritual Israelites were brought in. And then the other sheep started to flock to them in ever-increasing numbers. The peaceful condition of God’s people, the spiritual paradise existing on their "land," has attracted so many honesthearted ones that "the small one" has really become "a mighty nation." At present this "nation" - the Isreal of God and more than six million dedicated foreigners - is more populous than many of the world's sovereign states. (Isaiah 60:10) All its citizens share in reflecting Jehovah's light, and that makes all of them beautiful in his eyes.
The WTS is very proud of its numbers. There are more examples. I will add them as I find them.

I volunteer find some examples, ScoobySnax. The WT does equate 6 million people (numbers) of Jehovah's blessing. We studied this just last year in the Watchtower. In context. Scooby, have you studied recently?

Beryl, your question on where you can go to discuss your beliefs had me thinking for a while. I am very comfortable posting my questions at JWD (under Bible Research or Beliefs Doctrine and Practices), but I have a high tolerance for those with different beliefs, and I don't take attacks on what I believe as attacks on me personally. I am also willing to adjust my beliefs when they are clearly wrong. We have the complete range of beliefs here from athiest to existentialist to pagan to buddist to taoist to adventist to plainChristian to exoticChristian to evangelical to JW-in to JW-out to self-proclaimed prophets of doom. I think it makes discussion kinda fun. You may want a kinder, gentler atmosphere, however.
The first xJW site I found was Channel C. This is a haven for former JW's who are non-trinitarians, have rejected the Organization, yet retain their christian faith. Getting registered is a little more complicated, but you can always post your questions as a visitor. Since the group is a little more homogenous in their thinking, you might feel more comfortable posting your questions and thoughts there.
P.S. I am either 0 days or 15,458 days depending on how you look at it. I am a never-in. Great calculator, Elswhere! Yippee!

Diminished Morality as Proof???
by confuzcious intoday a couple of elders came by and told me that "diminished morality" is proof that those who leave the truth have lost jehovah's favor.
that is, when they were in the truth, they were all chaste, etc.
but now that they are out of the truth that they don't hold the same high standards of morality.

Well, first of all they would have to prove that everybody that leaves the society becomes less moral. How could they possibly know that? Congregation members don't even speak to them.
Also, they should define moral. Is a man be judged immoral only by WTS standards; that is, he smokes, he does not go to meetings? Or can a man be judged by biblical standards, working from the foundation outwards? The foundation is; love the Lord your God with all your heart, and your neigbour as yourself. So, if a parent in the society never smoked but rejected their own children, then leaves the society and takes up smoking and hugging their wayward children, did they become more or less moral?
It is so odd that Jehovah's relationship with Witnesses is so tenuous. If a man slips, he falls off the Jehovah wagon. It is as if the society is telling the people there is velcro on only one side of the relationship. What if Jehovah is the hook, and we are the loop, and when we stick to Him, He sticks to us? What if the relationship is two sided? (Deteronomy 3:8). We can see the model in human relationships. In a marriage either partner may go through a difficult time and when they do, the other carries the load for a while. The marriage endures, and both are strengthened as a result.(Eccl 4:9-10)
