were you at Russels grave?

anybody of you got the chance to visit russels pyramid grave?.

is it true it is at freemasons cemetery?.

is it public, or only freemasons are buried there?.

Me too. I did a two-week elders course back in about 1970 in Pittsburgh or so and it was on an optional bus tour for one weekend. Weird stuff.

Schroeder and Davis were the instructors, they made a little speech before we went to just ignore some of the symbolical graphics. They also took us by a couple of the old buildings where he used to preach - one was I think a community center and another a church auxliary by then.

The course was held in a kind of big super-kingdom-hall which somebody told me has now been sold and probably torn down for building sites.

BTW, I believe there is a Freemason's lodge somewhere close around there, but as far as I know it was not a "solely Masonic" graveyard - if there is such a thing. Both my father and grandfather on his side were 32nd degree, my other grandfather the honorary 33rd degree, and all were buried like most Masons in a church or public graveyard of the family choice.

we all know that god does not accept a simple "i'm sorry.".

first of all, god requires two witnesses; then, an investigation asking all your friends and neighbors if the gossip is true.

The WTS teaches that the angels are perfect as Adam and Eve were perfect and after they sin, that's it, eternal destruction is at their door. Humans grow old and die and "bad" angels are going to be killed by Jesus and the good angels.

Wait, I thought that in the early part of the 1960s some kind of "new light" came about that Adam might be resurrected and have the chance to repent...and that this "stumbled some people"?

When were people of color 1st accepted in the Borg?

it is my understanding that at one point, witnesses were taught that after armeggedon black people would be turned white, since they were inferior.

so when was this teaching rescended, and what was the progression of minorities the borg?.

Oklahoma City was still effectively segregated until well after the 1975 troubles. There was no stated rule, and maybe part of it was just geographic, but it was still segregation.

Also always puzzling to me was the rise about this time of spanish-only assemblies and congregations - where it would seem more logical to assimilate the spanish speakers into the english speaking group as a whole.

They are now doing this with the vietnamese.

One of the things that makes a person suspect as an "annointed" would be if he starts partaking right away after "coming into the truth".

Why this is so, nobody seems to really say - but in the old days post 1975 when there was something of a mini-boom in partakers, we were told to "watch these newly annointed carefully". I guess they liked their new annointed "well seasoned" as Bethel GB wannabees before legitimizing them.

Not scriptural even by JW standards, of course - example might be Apostle Paul; BAM - flash of light on the way to Damascus, and you are IN.

Is it possible that some people have a sort of embedded need or urge to get into cults?

It still seems amazing to me that you can go through the trauma of getting out of one high control cult, and then just jump right back into another...

and yet, this story happens again and again - more often than you would call statistically consistent.

i am looking for any references regarding the existence or (even better) the non-existence of a first century council / governing body in old watchtower publications.

it would most likely center on acts 14 and 15.. many of us have heard the fred franz recording about how there was no such body in the first century.

anybody have any pre-1970's quotes on this subject?.

There are plenty of real issues to get worked up about, this isn't one of them.

I belong to a fairly conservative car board (with a few of the hardcore left present also). Only two of the people there keep bringing this up: believe it or not, it is usually the liberal fringe that like to stir this silly issue up. Conservatives seem to have moved on past it...maybe the left likes the issue because they know it is real tinfoil hat stuff that they can easily refute. Of course, some people still believe that G.W.Bush wired up the buildings prior to 9/1/1 and detonated them by remote control...

i believe i did in 1974, but i was just coming into the org and didn't realize the significance of the part he played.. it was a sunday at a stadium on the campus of the university of alabama in tuscaloosa.

all the "friends" were almost beside themselves with excitement, so looking back, it must have been f. w. franz!.

i'd worked until 6 pm that saturday night, had a one year old teething child, and had to arise at 3 am to get ready for the bus trip.. when we arrived, the weather had turned colder, the stadium was quite warm, and i fell asleep a few minutes into the talk.

hello all, i have been lurking, looking, reading, and digesting for around 2 years and it seems the time is right to post.

i recently had one of those moments at the kindom hall where i found myself looking around thinking "am i the only one who gets it, why doesn't anyone else have this puzzled look on their face?".
