our friend who was one of the annointed has died, i cried so much but then i was excited knowing shes in heaven meeting apostle paul, peter and brother knorr etc....wow how great is that :).

When my family first went to Memorial - back in the early 1960s, there were only the smallest handful of "annointed" in all of Oklahoma City (about 7 or 8 "congregations" back then. They called Oklahoma City the "congregation" and each KH was a "unit" back then. I would say less than 20 all told, mostly women BTW, and of course they were all about 70 to 80 because they really did date back to the time before the Great Crowd teaching.
I am confidently sure that NONE of them are alive now. In those days, there were about 7500 "annointed" reported in the yearbook.
Yet with all of that generation GONE, COMPLETELY, there are now around 9000 "annointed", right?
How can this be explained with any kind of logical sincerity - given the JW past teachings on this special class?

Here is another complete embarrasment about this doctrine:
IT IS NEVER EVEN MENTIONED IN ANY KIND OF CLEAR TERMS ANYWHERE IN THE NEW TESTAMENT!!!
One would think that something so seemingly crucial as where christians are going when they die would not be left as a sort of chinese puzzle - hints here and there but never spelled out. Hints that all could easily mean something far different than the Witnesses stubborn belief in 2 classes.

The reality is that the "Great Crowd" was a creation by Rutherford & Cronies to avoid this very issue - they were rapidly reaching the point where 144,000 would obviously be reached and the expected end had not yet come.
Another stark reality is that you really have to do some picking of ideas out of the posterior to ever get to this doctrine form anything in the scriptures - the only 144,000 references in Revelation of John are so sketchy at best that they could mean hardly something literal rather than symbolic, and certainly are tied with the idea of Martyrs rather than some special class of Christians.
Now that this has again become an embarrasment, the new way of sweeping under the rug is to obfuscate: No one knows who the "real" annointed are any more.

This may be a little off the beaten track, but I know of at least 2 KH constructions where corners were cut on local building codes. Note that these were not quick-builds, either: Done over the space of 3 months or more by local talent on evenings and weekends. The attitude seemed to be that "we know better than some worldly local government people". And, of course, saving money was paramount.
I always wondered how your could possibly do a quick-build and actually get the required inspections done - building homes and commercial buildings in a past life, you had to schedule many times weeks in advance.

Why Do people think they need A GOD to be good people?
by LucyA ini decided after much study and soul searching that i dont believe in god.
ive noticed recently (not on the forum but others) some people seem to think that if i dont believe in a god that im obviously morally bankrupt.
i dont feel this way as i give a portion of my income to charity and i have never set out to harm anyone else.

It is not a one-to-one relationship. There are good and bad god-believers, as well as good and bad non-believers.

I had throught SDA taught of Jesus visible return in 1844, and when it did not happen they said he returned invisibly and still hold onto that date as the period of 'investigative judgment'.
Yes, I think that is essentially right - it was a Millerite idea long before CTRussell co-opted it (nicer was to say plagarized it). He originally believed in the Millerite revision which extended 1844 to 1874...then made his own extension to 1914. In both cases, they were visible and physical teachings before they were later revealed to be "invisible". It is also alarming to realize that in much of the CTR chronology he believed more in "pyramid numerology" and seems to have later forced various secular dates (607) to make the 1914 date fit where he wanted it.
