Yes, but what was posted here looked an awful lot like official WTBTS artwork and printing, not some family thing, correct?
Anyway, wasn't one purpose of the whole Governing Body arrangement to reduce the "one man as leader" syndrome that surrounded Knorr and later Franz?

I am sorry, but this is distasteful - when given the disregard that the witnesses treat the ordinary JW rank & file member in a standard JW funeral.
It is practically human exaltationism.

I liked what they put out for the Rutherford Funeral Brochure so much better -
theodore ("ted") jaracz1925-2010.
about 7:30, june 9, 2010, theodore ("ted") jaracz, one of the members of the governing body ruling over jehovah's witnesses, died.
previously, on may 19, 2009, he had had a serious stroke, but recently seemed to have made a big recovery, giving some assembly talks.
Back on Jaracz - so: He now passes into Watchtower legend. Each of the presidents has had some kind of legacy, right?
for example - Rutherford, the tyrant, spendthrift, and drunk.
Knorr - the iron-fisted publishing businessman.
Franz - the looney false prophet.
so - does that leave us with Jaracz - the pedophile cover-up artist?

P.S. in a strange little personal story, I once had a conversation with Ed Dunlap's widow Betty about Jaracz. Betty admitted that he was a hard-liner with some strange behavioral issues (I think the narcisistic label might actually fit) - but she sort of liked him. Betty was from Australia back in the Jaracz days and IMHO thought he got a raw deal there. I was kind of shocked, because nobody else I had ever talked to had anything good to say about the man...
i've started reading a book called the modern buddhist's bible and i'm liking a lot of things about the religion so far.
of course i don't know much yet, but there seem to be some very good points to buddhism.
one thing i love is the emphasis on "killing" the ego (or whatever you might want to call what buddhists try to do with their egos!).
JWoods: most agree that Buddhism is not a religion. Lilke you said, it's a philosophy of life.
Right. And, I might add that it does encourage self-improvement more than enslaving its people for time or money, like most western "christian" churches seem to always do...

My little old lady Mai (who escaped from Vietnam in 1975 with her family) is a lifelong Buddhist.
As far as I can tell, she views it as more of a life philosophy than a traditional western religion with rigid rules and doctrines.
I like it because they seem to be non-judgemental and generally tolerant of other people.
well, in about an hour or so i am going to shut the computer down and get ready to go to colorado.. we bought a mountain cabin on the st. vrain river there last year - (a few miles south of estes park, just outside rocky mountain national park).. no tv, no internet, no phone.. will see you all after the 15th of june.... james.
Well, we just got back and it was great to get away.
First, let me say again what a great car the Porsche 911 is. My old daily driver 1996 993 Targa got us there and back in great speed & comfort at 26 mpg and turned up the magic number 111,111 miles on the odometer during this trip. It is just about 975 miles each way and I drove it up and back in one day each by myself (Mai cannot drive a gearshift car). Hard to believe that it has been over 40 years since my first 911 - a 1969 911T Targa, and the last of the breed 993 is still very much the same car with upgrades. My stepson has the new water-cooled 997, but I am sticking with the traditional air-cooled for as long as it will last - which looks to be a long time.
Well, we have broken down on the primative cabin aspects and got a phone and dish TV - and it already had a dishwasher and a clothes washer and dryer and a detached 2-car garage...so, not much left of the call of the wild. But I did get a lot of reading done, including a biography of German physicist and Nobel Prize winner Werner Heisenberg - who was instrumental in the Nazi WW2 Atom Bomb research program. I may start a thread on this very interesting subject in a day or two.

i'll tell you what i just can't get.. how the hell can anyone cry wolf as many times as the witnesses have without huge repercussions afterward?
i don't get it.. "the end is sooooooooo sooooooooooo close and you better get back to the organization for protection before it is too late!!!".

I am DAILY.....and I do mean DAILY amazed that the VAST MAJORITY OF JW's know NOTHING about their faith. Absolutely nothing.
We see it very often here when an "unbelieving" non-JW husband or wife logs on to learn more about this organization. Rapidly, they almost always discover that they suddenly know more about JWs than the JW mate.
This is doubly perplexing because of the sheer number of meetings and amount of time the JWs spend doing mind-control studies of their own literature at the kingdom hall.
Guess they are just sitting through it all like zombies - or else those meetings don't really touch on the actual core beliefs.

LittleBird, did you know that the big white hotel in Estes Park is the Stanley Hotel that was used in the movie "The Shining"? They say they have a great Sunday Buffet there.
It was originally built by F.O.Stanley, one of the twin brothers who made the old Stanley Steamer antique car.
