Welcome. Maybe you can have the girl's birthday without including the JW friends for now.
That leaves some time to smooth out the details of getting away from them.
its been a long time coming but i kinda think im finally at the point of no return....... right or wrong, i have spoken to my 'friends' about my new feelings and the fact i no longer believe that this is gods chosen people etc etc... and have already been told that if i was to now celebrate my childs birthdays , her 'truth' friends would not be able to come to sleep again and associate with her... (she is 7).
this is despite the fact they are allowed to play with there non witness friends who live down the road....why??
the explanation is that their daughter would perhaps feel it is ok to do this when it is not... i ask why could they not just simply explain it is not our family's belief anymore (as my husband is with me on my decision), and my response is that it would be difficult to do that as we once were witnesses and now are not so it would confuse her daughter and make her think its ok to do these things now... .

would anyone out there like to correspond with a 46 year old afro american witness who is serving a long term prison sentence in the us?
he would really like someone to write to him.
prison is a lonely place - fortunately he has his belief to keep him strong..
Young psychopaths in love.
And here I thought true romance was dead in the world.
i'm just introducing myself before i get to know the site a little.
i'm "libelle," i'm a pagan married to a man who's now a jw.
he was not this way when our relationship first started.
JWoods, I'm what I like to call an earth-based choose your own adventure Pagan. (CYOA Pagan). I do find the old mythologies interesting, but I don't tend to hearken back to "the old ways". I don't think it's wise to base current beliefs off everything people used to do. But even in old myths some truths can be found (in some you have to dig a little more than others). In my view, spirituality should evolve as human understanding has evolved.
Yup- that sounds a lot like our guy. He has an old Lotus instead of a Ferrari, but we are a pretty understanding and tolerant group. All I can say is - it looks to me like if your husband keeps getting tighter with the Watchtower cult - you are going to need to be pretty understanding and tolerant yourself. I don't envy the situation, but stay with us and let us know how everything goes - maybe you can help him out of it someday. James

Libelle, just as a matter of interest - what kind of pagan are you?
I post on a Ferrari owners board, and we have a guy there who proclaims himself to be a pagan. However, when questioned, he pretty much says he just kind of rejected established religion and made up his own - which he calls pagan.
Just wondering - I am an agnostic myself.

We had an American Indian girl in my old congregation in OKC named Sheila -
So the guys always sang that JW song "Oh Sheila-mite maiden".
She looked a lot like Law & Order assistant DA Angie Harmon.

JWoods
, I've heard the same about that Joran van der Sloot guy.
Well, at least it looks like scientologist TV broadcaster Greta van Susterain has finally turned on Joran.
And, reportedly, his own mother too.

Oh gawd, Mary - I thought that horrible avatar was gone from my memory, and you posted it again.

Mary, I saw on TV that convicted California death-row murderer (of his pregnant wife) Scott Peterson has quite a mailbox harem...

Maybe Jacki should introduce herself to the board, and let us get to know her, before we move on her penfriend suggestion.
Just as a simple question - what does evolution have to do with this? (other than the fact that there are microbes that can break down hydrocarbon petroleum - and that there have been such bugs for millenia)
Surely we are not being told that these microbes rapidly evolved during the 3 months or so after the oil was spilled?
Or, are we?
