my theory continues to be that the governing body will be forced to break down the organization piece by piece.. so, i wonder: could they dump the assemblies?.
it is clear - that they are having some problems in this area.
they are selling off assembly halls in some countries, they have moved some district assemblies to assembly halls (to save money on rent) and the pleas for donations from the platform have not let up.. while zombie witlesses may drag themselves to meetings and out in service (with whatever literature/magazines the watchtower manages to afford) indefinitely, i watch this area with interest.
For sure they seem to have given up on the ultra-huge assemblies like Yankee Stadium and others in the 1950s and early 1960s. Those, I think, were deliberate PR events to get the WTBTS into the news.
Todays assemblies are all about control and extraction of money from the rank & file - hence the WT owned assembly halls. Money, not PR now.
Also, these serve the purpose of glorification of the circuit and district overseer - in fact, the district overseer would practically have nothing to do if there were not circuit assemblies.

in this video, we'll see how jesus' death failed to fulfill the actual jewish ritual for atonement on the day of atonement (yom kippur)--this despite all the claims that jesus perfectly fulfilled the law.. what say some of our in house theologians?.
I would like to add that the vestiges of "human sacrifice" which are bound up with the Atonement idea are troubling to me, to say the least.
Note, of course, that I am no theologian - but just cannot see why a God would legally be required to demand the human sacrifice of his own son (without recourse) or else no other human could live...

This is exactly right - the whole thread was insulting.
This is also why I am not buying this troll "trying to make nice and tell his story" on the other thread - I remember this garbage (from the same day as the making nice!) and about a dozen other threads clearly posted just to irritate everyone on the board. Plus, IIRC, spamming for his website.
